Manti here is the best I’ve had at restaurants in Kadikoy and made on premise. Served the traditional way, with yogurt and fresh garlic (though they will ask you if you want with or without garlic), and a tomato paste based sauce similar to marinara. The three toppings normally added are sumac, a burgundy red spice with a slightly sour flavor, dried mint, and dried red pepper which some people choose not too add. By the way, red pepper in Turkey tends to be more flavorful and spicy then what is served with pizza and pasta at Italian restaurants in the United States.
Menu here is very simple, basically just Manti and Cig Boregi. Cig Boregi is a minced meat served inside a fried dough. It is very delicious at this restaurant and not too heavy or oily.
The location itself is charming, the staff are friendly and helpful, and good music is always playing on the radio. It's a nice break from the Moda street which can feel hectic and overly modern. Espresso drinks are not great but there is always Montag Coffee...
Read moreThe restaurant may look basic but it is not mass-produced fast food, the food is delicious and cooked from scratch. The staff is very nice and helpful. The tables outside have room for 2-3 people, but the staff is quick to move tables together if necessary. I will write about the menu in detail below for non-Turks.
There is classic/klasik Manti as well as fried, katir. I appreciate that you can order half a portion of these (yarim). You can also order a plate with half classic/klasik and half fried/katir = karisik. When you order, the staff asks if you want garlic in it and YES, I think it is needed!
I have tasted all the varieties they serve and everything is good, my favorite is the classic manti. It would have been even better with more garlic and more chili, but that is my opinion. I definitely think you need to add the spices that are on the table.
In Istanbul, this kind of börek is not so common - ci börek from Eskisehir.
The toilet is clean. I highly recommend...
Read moreMy rating for the service is zero, and if there was less than a star, I would give them. The waitress was impolite and rude. She kicked my family out under the pretext that there were people who wanted the table and the shop was empty. They had asked, but they took my plate and I ate it in the shop and refused to let any of them sit with me. When I told her, “Okay, they will eat here,” she said, “No.” You are lying. I have never seen anything ruder than that, but can I be honest about the food I give it 10/10 It...
