Balıkada — Restaurant in Konak

From all the decent fish restaurants in Izmir, it would be a big mistake to choose this one. Quality: had to send the fish back twice due to it being undercooked.

Food: Portions are 1/3 of what they are in other places in terms of quantity, while prices are 30% higher. The Atom was basically three spoons of yoghurt, spread as thin as possible on a tiny plate. The Lokum fish they claim to be 800 grams was 6 tiny slices of undercooked fish. Çiroz was 3 tiny pieces. Salad was ok.

The service: seemed polite at first, until we voiced our concern over the portion sizes and the undercooked fish. Suddenly, they were nowhere to be found.

This restaurant charges water, bread … 90TL, salad another 60 TL. All without customer consent. When confronted, they tried to convince me that every restaurant in İzmir does this. Be aware, especially those from The States, their shrimp salad is not what you think, it means only THREE shrimps in oil. That is it. Not honest people.

By the way, here is my bill for five people, two starters, two seafood rice (two person size each), one shrimp salad ( three shrimps), one can of coca zero and one glass of red wine (85 TL). My total...

What a wonderful experience! Highly recommended for fish lovers! An excellent choice of fresh fish from the refrigerator (waiter won't except fish order unless you personally choose your desired fish from the selection) They even had lüfer! Somewhat slow service with the main course but attending with the rest of the order. ALL starters are outstanding. Choose yours from behind the glass.
