Pidpilʹnyy Kindrat — Restaurant in Lviv Urban Hromada

We have had quite disappointing lunch experience in Pidpil’nyy Kindrat. We have paid a lot of money for very tasteless food. The dishes we have ordered I make at home sometimes, and I know how they are supposed to taste if you use quality ingredients and season/cook things properly. In this posh place food tasted like in soviet style cafeteria folks used to have at their plants and factories! The dish they call “bigos” tasted like “(pere)tushonaya kapusta”. Grilled pork chop was probably boiled not grilled - and it was not seasoned/marinated before it was cooked - so it turned out absolutely tasteless. Sautéd chicken livers are supposed to be tender but they were tough (how old they were?). Salads were plain, no salt, no flavor! Trout fish was smelly (not fresh for sure). Even mashed potatoes were not made right - clumpy, likely undercooked and cream/milk were never added. Cappuccino was unbearably bitter. Nevertheless I gave them 2 stars - that is all because of their extremely polite waiters and prompt and attentive service. Maybe I should even give them 3 stars, because in Ukraine good service in the restaurant is not too common. We came with the baby in a stroller and their reception hostess helped us to lift it up the stairs at the entrance and through the door (not always the case in United States restaurants). Our waiter knew the menu, was able to explain how dishes are made and how long the wait will be. She was attentive to our requests and was not defensive when I criticized the food. She apologized for the disappointing experience we’ve had. It makes me feel sad that I can’t rate this place higher, but I have to be fair. Все ещё "маст визит"))) Но!!! Почему убрали список наливок?!! Какой в этом смысл? Вносит путаницу и непонятки людям, которые впервые пришли. Да и "ветеранам" сложно. Однозначно минус балл только за это. Вкус наливок не поменялся. (Предыдущий) MUST VISIT! У данного заведения несколько составляющих успеха: первое - отличная атмосфера приватности, которая, в свою очередь, складывается из прекрасного антуража, музыки и, как ни странно, отсутствия проходняка, т.к. находится кафе чуть в стороне от "большого туристического пути", и это супер. Второе - ассортимент и качество напитков. Более 100 видов наливок! Да, некоторые сезонные (пьяные меда - только зимой, например), но и остальных хватит с лихвой. Я " присел" на медовые бальзамы (крепче 50%): "Мертві бджоли", "Трутень тато", "Чорна біда", и, безусловно, и много раз "Біла мама"! Огонь! Супруга плотно налегла на цитрусовые и ягодные, они полегче, для девочек. Друг пил экспериментально: и " Стоп бацила" на шишках, и с перцем и т.д. Все супер! Цена от 17 до 25 грн за 50мл, что абсолютно нормально. Есть еда и закуски, но мы брали только набор бутеров, очень уместно. Можно взять понравившуюся наливку с собой. И третье. Обслуживание. За три раза нам дважды повезло с официантом Валерией. Да, вторая девочка очень хороша (особенно на фоне трускавецких, днепровских и большинства киевских официантов), но Валерия! Вобщем она сделала наше настроение, приятно, что есть такие люди. Вывод: если вы не трезвенник и у вас нет аллергии на мёд, вы просто обязаны здесь побывать! И ещё один момент, будьте аккуратны, т.к. пьётся все легко, голова светлая, а вот ноги и язык... вобщем, чувство...

This place is unique for me. I haven't eaten here, just tried few of their homemade drinks. Two of them worth mentioning: white mama&black papa. These are made with royal jelly and taste incredible. White is more sweet and black is hot like pepper. But be aware, alcohol percentage on those are around 68%. I've tried 4 other drinks and didn't like them much.
