Gogol-Mogol — Restaurant in Odesa Urban Hromada

They are making a full out of you there! Be aware of that. Very bad experience with the stuff, which was at least unpleasant and sloooolw. You can see that they do not like what they do. That is a pity. Watch out the Coffee is terrible!!!

They said that it is not their fault if things are not in order! Can you imagine that?!

They told me that I had to ask what a Greek coffee is before ordering it!

People who drink coffee (not to mention the coffee lovers) know exactly what a Greek coffee is (in case you do not know google it). There is no difference at all the places in the world I visited in how this drink is prepared.

However, here at Hohol-Mohol, they do not mention a “special” or a “house” Greek Coffee. They write only Greek Coffee. And because I like it a lot, I ordered it.

What I got was a glas full of ice cubes and chocolate-like artificial sirup, milk and a bit of coffee. Truly disgusting drink.

When I asked where is my Greek Coffee, the waitress replied that it is my order. She asked from the stuff for a redhead women to come (probably the manager of the whole place) from who I heard that I should ask what and how they serve it! And if I do not like that one I can order other coffee, but I need to pay as well for it. That is ridiculous!

They did not even offer any apologies, to do not mention that if the service is good, they would immediately offer you other drink in this case to make a client happy!

If they would mention in their menu Greek Coffee Special/ Home/ * for sure I would’ve asked. Because I always ask if I do not know or want to know what does it mean.

By they way, I was not the only one. There were as well some Dutch people siting and staring at the glass of a Greek Coffee.

The food was okayish. Tzimmes was very nice! That I can recommend. Unfortunately, pielmieni were the worse I ever tried! They were boiled or too long or not well prepared, because the meat went out of them and they were still swimming in the water (not well soaked).

Over all it is a pity to have such an experience, with the stuff, because the place looks nice and they have...

Достойное место. Однозначно. Внутри тесно, но очень уютно, есть три комнатки со столиками, стены увешаны картинами и постерами. Много мебели и декора, если хорошо присмотреться кажется, что попал в крошечную комнатку бабули из аристократической семьи, которая старательно держит при себе всё своё нажитое за годы добро. Летом работает летняя терраса. Вообще расположение удобное - приехал к тебе в гости человек из другого города или страны, ты с ним пешочком прошёлся по главным достопримечательностям, а потом от тещиного моста прямо и направо до цветных велосипедов и вот вы уже поставили вкусную точку в вашем маршруте. Ещё из больших плюсов: Еда, еда и ещё раз еда. Разнообразное меню. Такого добра даже у бабушки нет. Рыба на высоте, салаты и гарниры тоже. Даже бануш есть, что в принципе традиционно украинское гуцульское блюдо. Чизкейк приятно порадовал. Порции большие. Из минусов: Время. Однажды мы тут заказ ждали больше часа, ну серьёзно, тут людям которые позже пришли еду уже принесли, а за нас словно забыли, напоминать приходилось. Когда у тебя на приём пищи запланировано определённое время то это не позволяет расслабиться и наслаждаться едой как хотелось бы. Посетителей в тот день было много. Сегодня всё было как по часам, ресторан был пустой. Столики в основном зарезервированы на вечер. Напитки. Мы с супругом люди не пьющие, поэтому оценить алкогольные напитки не можем, но как-то скуповат выбор безалкогольных напитков. Фреш был в крохотном стаканчике из которого торчала огромная черная соломинка, в два раза больше чем этот стакан. Еда с собой или что делать с остатками? Упаковывают, но к сожалению, в пластиковый контейнер может попасть не вся еда, оставшаяся на тарелке, почему так, понятия не имею. Мой муж иностранец, у них обслуживание на высоте, не понял прикола из-за своей принципиальности хотел устроить скандал, еле уговорила его просто не оставлять чаевые. Скатерти. Пожалуйста, пожалуйста, пожалуйста, стирайте эти красивые кружевные скатерти, приведите их в порядок. Они достойны того чтобы...

Absolutely mind-blowing deliciousness! Odessa is a great place to eat. But out of the 3 excellent restaurants we've gone to in Odessa, Gogol Mogol takes the palm: fresh, clean authentic tastes, very hearty dishes that all seems straight out from the books of different Grand-mas who would have shared their own special secret recipes to create the epitomy of Eastern cuisine. Even better: our waitress Tatiana was just... Perfect. Kind and extremely effective, good recommendation in English and very patient with our kind, the touristy "what's this what's that" kind. Thank you again for this amazing experience!!! We will come back to Odessa just to eat...
