I read the shining reviews and decided to book brunch to celebrate my birthday with friends. The reviews said it was a family place and the staff would take excellent care of us. OUR EXPERIENCE COULD NOT HAVE BEEN WORSE.
It started with Monica at the front desk collecting payment. She refused to change a 500 note to pay for a waiting cab outside. When we said we’ll pay for brunch with the note to get the change she said it was not possible and all other service desks pointed to her. She rudely refused to help out and my friend had to run around looking for change.
Our table was inside. This was perfect because we didn’t want to melt in the heat. The only problem was that there There was an ENTIRE CHILDRENS SPORTS TEAM INSIDE WITH PARENTS CELEBRATING THEIR END OF YEAR. Rather than telling us this at the time of booking they asked if it was ok for my party to sit inside. What the manager needed to ask was “is it ok to sit inside and listen to a kids trophy ceremony with their parents blocking your passageway to the food outside?”
The ceremony finished after an hour and the music returned. We decided to use the pool. This is where the nightmare began.
There were 50 screaming kids in the pool and no room for us. Turns out on top of the kids sports team, the restaurant was also hosting TWO KIDS BIRTHDAY PARTIES. Again, something I feel should have been mentioned in the booking.
Luckily the kids left pool for a game and my group were able to enter the pool. When they returned they respected the space for a while and then turned it into a game of splash the adults and cannonball them.
Look, I get this is a family restaurant but I don’t think it’s unreasonable to ask kids to not splash in one corner of the pool so others can enjoy the facilities too. It’s my birthday too and I paid the same prices their parents paid.
Unfortunately, the lifeguard was powerless to stop it because the kids mocked his accent and did not respect his authority. the awful drunk parents were encouraging their children to bother us. At one point a mother yelled at me when I asked her child to jump in the pool away from me so as to not splash us.
The manager came. Rather than kicking drunk parents and rude children out he negotiated with us to move to the Radisson BLu pool. Then we had to negotiate comps. He agreed to give us three bottles of prosecco. When we got to the adult pool my friend had to negotiate with them for 30 minutes just to collect the Prosecco All in all I am appalled at the service and the patrons. This was the worst birthday ever and I am embarrassed that I asked my friends to not only celebrate with me here, but to pay for it too. In conclusion, the food is good, the cocktails are awful (a mojito is not made with rum, 7up, and grenadine). The “family” label turns out to be a euphemism for rude and irresponsible patrons. The staff is useless.

Read moreThis is a long review but I guarantee there is a dramatic payoff at the end. This was a truly bizzare dining experience.
I had come here once before and had a great experience. Food and service were really good. But not my last visit: my colleagues and I arrived for dinner and were seated outside, at the base of the Park Inn (this becomes important later).
It took about 15 min before anyone showed up to take our drink order. When they finally got around to taking the food order, we purchased their "Brunch"; an all you can eat and drink set menu for about 270 AED each.
The first course of appetizers arrived quickly. But after that, no exaggeration, we waited an HOUR AND A HALF to get any more food. We kept waving down the server to let them know what was happening and get our drinks topped up. My colleague finally went in to have a word with management explaining that we'd paid 270 AED each and were getting no service. Food finally started arriving. It was subpar to ok. And they finally brought us several bottles of wine (I had had two glasses of the "all you can drink" wine over the two hours I'd been sitting there by that point).
I wish the review could end here but sadly, now is when things get a bit dramatic and bizzare. I turn my head to the right to watch the live show, when someone lobs what I can only assume to be some kind of "bottle rocket" at our table which explodes next to me directly on my left. It felt and sounded like someone opened a giant bottle of champagne except much louder and I could feel a percussion wave and a light spray of liquid on my left (please tell me that was water!).
The whole place stopped. We're all shocked and looking around trying to make sense of what just happened. I'm looking for debris of an explosive and for any sign of what it was and where it came from. Everyone in the restaurant is looking at us. I finally look up and realize we are sitting under all these balconies of the Park Inn. The "bottle rocket" could've come from anywhere.
About a minute later, I no longer feel safe. I did not want sit around waiting to be attacked again from above or wherever the "bottle rocket" came from. My colleagues stay.. they were not as close to the explosion as I was. Staff apologize and let me have my dinner free of charge. The best thing they did all night. I will not...
