I was hesitant to book an IHG hotel because while they identified as 5 stars they don’t scream 5 stars. There’s no pick up from the airport if you planing that
Arrival
1- I have arrived they were welcoming and nice told me my room was ready. Went there it was the wrong room they kept apologizing saying the system showed two beds.
2- they told me stay in the room and rest and they are cleaning the correct room should be ready in 15-20 min. Waited from 12:30 until 2:30 until we got the room, thats of course after chasing.
3- No one checked on us during the time of waiting of getting to the room. Not 5 stars
The room
A) The view : was nice. B) the balcony table wasn’t the cleanest had to clean it. C) the bathroom: bath was not it for dipping. There is no edge to rest your head and it doesn’t look the cleanest, the cleaning service is not the best for cleaning after using. Get your own hair dryer they don’t provide, the plug is not good if you want to plug your own and get ready at the sink.
The bathroom door kept getting jammed so we couldn’t close it all the way again. Worried might get stuck
D) the bedroom: the beds were hard also the pillows. Under the bed is really dusty they don’t clean under the bed so if you have allergies or asthma you might want to check before.
E) Food: i tried to see the restaurant when i arrived but the lady told its closed so. I grabbed something from the mall. She didn’t suggest anything, 5 stars right.
I wanted to get coffee from the hotel at night. It was disappointing experience, i asked her about the coffee beans used she didn’t know had to look around i asked her if i can sip to taste it she got me the coffee beans to bite on!!! My jaw dropped then she realized her mistake started laughing and asked to see nearby hotel’s coffee. Mind you this is my first day its not going well and i have to walk everywhere but luckily i didn’t went to the hotel front she kept it short and told me all yas plaza hotel use the same coffee beans.
Went back to the hotel wanted to order and get coffee with my sister, the chocolate cake is bland. She accidentally dropped the cheese cake but its fine it happens but nobody came to clean. Got up and its still there and avoided stepping on it.
Breakfast: was alright but didn’t scream the best.
Others: slippers, i assumed they would change it to new one during cleaning but they didn’t because it hot dirty, at this point i gave up its IHG.
The fridge wasn’t plugged in when we came so it was hot. We thought it was broken so we called service
Staff: the staff were nice but the lack a lot of communication skills. Calling multiple times, ringing and no answers. Transferred from one person to another
Checking out: had to call twice we wanted to check out. Finally got someone to take the luggage, i just wished i used the bathroom in my room before leaving because the bathroom downstairs. The garbage was full the smell was strong i was disgusted
Overall: To be honest it wasn’t even crowded thats what surprised me, the staff is friendly. But I wont believe google reviews anymore and trust my gut to not book an IHG hotel

Read moreI have stayed at a number of the great hotels located on Yas Island, but I am most happy with the outstanding service and accommodations at the Crowne Plaza Abu Dhabi - Yas Island. All of the hotel staff have been very friendly, helpful and made it a great pleasure to stay at this particular location. I find everything from the tastefully decorated rooms with superb balcony views to the Jing Asia restaurant, sandwich cafe, and the uniquely cool Stills Restaurant & Bar all help to equally accentuate the comfortable luxury that holds a distinct uniqueness to the other big hotel brands.
There is one notable individual that I am most impressed with at this hotel, and that is their concierge team leader, Mr. Binod K.C., who is absolutely the finest concierge I have ever encountered. His level of customer service, attention to detail, helpfulness, and individualized service is truly exceptional and without comparison. I was highly impressed with Mr. Binod upon meeting him during my first stay in 2023. Since then he has become a trusted and reliable friend from afar that still greets me years later as if I were a permanent VIP guest.
I have noticed that he and his amazing concierge team extend their stellar degree of professionalism and courtesy to all guests of the hotel, which truly separates them from all of the other great hotels in that they do this all of the time, every time. It makes a substantial difference when the concierge team makes you feel close like family, in addition to the guest reception staff, housekeeping (all were exceptional), room service, restaurant & bar (especially Prakash and his fantastic service and memory), the duty managers, and the general staff. Crowne Plaza is most certainly doing everything right by having an entire team of such happy and quality staff members. The level of service from duty manager Rahul was extremely impressive as his helpfulness during my stay and aligning of my separate stay room transitions made for an even better hotel experience than I was already having. He was so very accommodating and courteous, and set up a most pleasant check in with the additional assistance of Rojina and Prabhat at the guest reception desks. I also received an attentive and helpful checkout with front desk manager Khaled, who was able to quickly get me on my way to my next stop.
It is with great confidence that I will make my future stays at this hotel due to Mr. Binod's above and beyond level of service. His help in getting immediate transportation to wherever I needed to go, in addition to helping confirm my different rooms and event package with hotel management in the weeks before I even arrived at the hotel are just a few examples of his outstanding service. His coordination with the other services within and outside the hotel always make for a remarkable experience for every visit to this Crowne Plaza location. Most of all, what is truly impressive is that Binod exceeds all expectations because he genuinely enjoys and loves his job that much. Go find him during your next stay and you will see first hand how great he is, along with his entire team that he leads, to include members such as Ashok, Sammera, Ahmed, and Vishow. Read moreUpdate: After three emails to IHG headquarters, they finally honored my stay with the points I had earned. Just like airline points, they go to the individual, not the company. Again, don't stay if you want IHG credits as this hotel will not honor your IHG membership if booked through your company. A disappointment and hassle to have to haggle over such issues.
Very surprised when I learned the Crowne Plaza didn't credit my stay with IHG rewards. I was told that it was their policy not to give such credits if booked through a third party as they consider it a "non qualified stay".
I had to amend my initial positive review due the the bad taste left after not receiving my credits. Other than this unfortunate stance by the management, it's a decent hotel, that appears organized and well-staffed. I've stayed at all of them in Yas Plaza. They are all fairly good and I am not sure I would stay again. Here are some pros and cons for me:
Cons - Buffet is pretty ok, though with fewer selections than some other hotels. No bowls or spoons near the oatmeal and shakshuka forces one to travel across the dining hall on a scavenger hunt (first world problem for sure, ha ha) Like the other hotels, many tourists descend on the dining hall especially on weekends making it fairly chaotic and hard to find a seat. As a long-term guest, I've learned to go early in the morning for a more peaceful meal. Few rooms with balconies. During F1, you should stay away from Yas in general due to noise and traffic and the hotels during F1 will kick you out for the week and you end up going to a hotel in Mafraq or some other far away location. No long-term guest discount for Room Service.
Holiday note - at the Crowne Plaza they included those on half board to partake in the Christmas Brunch at their restaurant bar Stills (which was nice), though they had a 500 AED surcharge for long-term clients for NYE.
Overall disappointed with the hotel and can't recommend it if they don't honor IHG rewards members. Here are some staff members who have been helpful during my stay.
