The hotel looks elegant and the staff are honestly friendly. However, I had a really bad experience in Centro Yas Island I never faced before in a hotel: First we found sink is clugged and needs to be fixed Bathroom door was broken and cannot be closed. A little fly was in the room and the staff came and cleaned it.
In the end they moved us into other room since fixing all these issues may take time.
All facilities were closed due to Maintenance work and guests can use the facilities in Rotana hotel nearby.
There was a nice kids play area and one day we came within working hours. They said it is closed now and will open after 1 hour.
The air conditioning is not working very well in the room and bed sheets feel hot not like other hotels.
The rooms are relatively small and the staff said it is only one size of the rooms.
After reservation and before check in by more than 7 days, I tried to contact the hotel to change the reservation and cancel one day in the end of my 6 nights reservation which was mistakenly added although I had a flight the night before. They took 4 days to answer me with: Contact your agency After that, I contacted the agency and they said the hotel refused to change your reservation. So far, I'm not sure who refused to change it but definitely, it was a real poor experience with customer service.
The TV supposed to connect to my mobile phone but I could not set it up. I called customer service to fix and they said they will send someone. Nobody showed up.
Breakfast was average. It was OK but I would not try it again.
This bad experience does not hide the fact they have a very good staff and service: Smiley staff and they try to fix the issues. They offer a competitive price for Yas Island attractions: SeaWorld, Ferrari World and WB. 365 Dhs if you pay by card and 340 Dhs if you pay by cash for a single entry. Read moreI was booked to stay at Centro, for 3D & 2N. To be fair, at the time of check in, I was advised that 'soft' renovations were underway on the 5th & 6th floors of the building. And minor noise disturbances are to be expected between 10AM to 6PM everyday. The room allocated to me was on the 4th floor. I was okay with this, as I figured I would be spending the said time, outside the hotel anyways.
However, the renovation work would start everyday by 7AM, instead of 10 AM. And these weren't minor disturbances. It was continuous noises of drilling and (I assume) walls, tiles being broken. If we are to ignore the fact that sleep was disrupted this early in the morning, I would return to the hotel, by noon to rest before I would proceed to the evening events to attend, and there were those noises again. Which makes it impossible to rest.
I would have appreciated it, if the Management had done all/either of the below.
Inform guests that said renovations would take place at the time of booking, by email or phone. Review hotel prices in accordance with the inconvenience that is bound to happen, and let the guest choose whether they are willing to stay at the property or not. Centro is not a cheap hotel to book. At the time of check in, offer the guest an option to stay at a different Rotana property in Abu Dhabi, and provide clear and accurate description of what is to be expected.
I have stayed at Centro previously, and had a pleasant experience. I was with friends the last time as well, and the only reason we chose to come back, was because we were very happy with the service previously.
We expected more out of Rotana.
