Went to Up & Below on New Year’s Eve with my friends. We noticed the average reviews, unfortunately however, this place was a terrible disappointment . To begin with the simple things like upon arriving and checking our reservation the manager plainly dismissed us off saying we don't have a reservation. We politely clarified to him that we have turned up after receiving a confirmation call from his team and he just needs to verify it. He seemed annoyed with request to check this out, however in the meanwhile a lady assisting him got it checked and apologized for overlooking this. I had made reservation for 6 people and even the guest list showed 6 people however the floor Manager came up with this new version of his story that he had called me half an hour ago and said they could only accommodate 4 (which is a lie) as nobody called me but he went on arguing but I was not ready for that because I went there to have a good time. And then he took us in around 8.30 pm to a gave us a table next to the door and when I asked him if I can sit outside or some other table he refused saying that it was all booked but until 10.30 pm nobody came to that place and he simply refused to give us a better table. And to top it all one of the staff even told us that we have only been complaining from the time we arrived ( we just requested them to make the flickering bulbs next to us to stop flickering) This is something totally unacceptable and antagonizing behavior . So then I wanted to escalate this and took this matter to some of their senior staff but nobody was supportive or gave us a solution . I would never ever recommend this place to anybody, by far this the worst place that I’ve ever been with the most innept floor manager. By far this the WORST place EVER that we hav ever been! We certainly recommend you to avoid this place and save yourself from an...
Read moreKaraoke was fun and entertaining. Service was just ok. We had some issues with our food. For example, people in our group ordered a glass of wine but were given two portions according to the waiter. So the people were forced to pay for a double although they only ordered a glass of wine. I still don't understand how you just make a decision to give someone a double when they ordered a glass of wine.
Upon sitting, the waitress told me to scan the QR code for the menu. I did and ordered nachos. The waitress asked if I wanted beef and I stated no, I want them exactly as they are on the menu which was with chips, cheese, guacamole, and salsa. They bring the nachos out with NO cheese. 🤔
I asked where was the cheese and the waitress stated I said I didn't want any. I told her I never said that, I stated I wanted them exactly as they are on the menu. After some back and forth, another waiter said there was a new menu that started that day and the nachos did not come with cheese. Afterwards, another waitress brings a "new" paper menu out. Someone eventually brought out some extremely nasty melted cheese.
I'm sure anyone reading this is as confused as I was.
So you tell me to scan a QR code for the menu, but it was a discontinued menu. How would I know? Then you're looking at me with an attitude like I should have known. Since when do nachos not come with cheese? Make...
Read moreMy recent visit to Up & Below restaurant and bar left much to be desired. Upon arrival around 8:00 pm, I was immediately struck by the overwhelming presence of teenagers dominating the bar area. Despite the relatively early hour, the music blared at an uncomfortably high volume, making conversation difficult.
Approaching the bartender to place my order, I was surprised to learn of a private event happening inside. I was then directed to outdoor seating options. However, my disappointment grew as I realized that the only available seating consisted of cramped spaces barely larger than a meter and a half, tucked away behind the main outdoor area.
What frustrated me the most was the lack of prior notification about the private event. Despite the fact that many seats were unoccupied, there was no mention of the event on any media platform, leaving us unaware until we arrived.
Overall, this experience fell far short of my expectations. Given the multitude of dining options in Abu Dhabi, I would advise potential visitors to explore...
