Read moreWe stayed for a weekend in Abu Dhabi and overall had a mixed experience.
Arrival & Parking: Upon arrival, I had to specifically ask for assistance with the luggage, as the valet staff member was only waiting for the car key without offering any help. Later, when I requested the car, it took around 20 minutes to be brought, which felt quite long given that the area was not very busy. When we came back to the hotel, the parking staff asked inappropriate questions such as “Are you going to a bar?” — something that is neither professional nor logical to ask a guest who is clearly driving. The following morning, after I had taken the car and returned within 15 minutes, the same staff again asked strange and unnecessary questions like “Where are you going? To a salon or visiting?” at 9 am. This kind of behavior feels intrusive and unprofessional. A more courteous and suitable approach would be to simply ask, “Are you staying with us?” or “Would you like any assistance?”
Check-in & Reception: The check-in experience was very good. The receptionist was polite, answered all our questions, and informed us about the hotel facilities.
Room & Facilities: The room itself is quite basic but clean and comfortable — no complaints there. Location of the hotel is convenient and central, which is a plus. In-room dining was also very good: food was tasty, prepared quickly, and service was smooth. However, there are no toiletries or cosmetics provided in the room. In the morning, reception told me these are “upon request,” which would have been good to know in advance (better to ask in the evening, otherwise you may have to wait).
Noise: If your room is on the 11th floor, as ours was, be prepared for very loud music from the bar/club on the 12th floor. It lasts all evening, and there is no chance to sleep early.
Staff Attitude: While the reception team during check-in was excellent, the valet/parking staff and morning reception shift were quite rude and unprofessional. Instead of a friendly “good morning” and a relaxing vibe, their behavior made the stay feel uncomfortable.
Overall: The location is great, and the in-room dining was a pleasant surprise. Rooms are clean and fine for a short stay. Reception during check-in was excellent. However, the unprofessional behavior of some staff (especially valet and morning shift), unnecessary questions, noise from the bar, and lack of basic amenities in the room left a negative impression. With better training for staff and clearer communication about facilities, this could be a much...
Read morei was excited for the new feature which is the mobile key. however, as we were checking in early, we still had to ask the reception. though , i'm not sure if in this country , mobile key is REAL as they would need your ID or passport upon checkin. even during checkout, i checked out online but i still had to see the receptionist. so next time, Marriott, i hope you customize your mobile app features to the location of the hotel.
this hotel location has caused me stress more than any other hotel has. to think that of all hotels, it's the Marriott brand. you shoud send your front desk manager and the team back to the training room for personaliy development and customer service.
Upon arrival , they asked for the ID. my friend's national ID had an expired date because she just renewed it and the new one wasn't given yet, nor her passport. they didn't accept the scanned copy of the passport which was shown to them via the mobile phone. The lady , whom the receptionist entertaining us called for escalation , simply told us that it's a CID requirement. the gentleman receptionist on the other desk also mentioned that it's not their policy . so then, what part of the website mentions that it's a CID Requirement ?! there was even no solution given . You must mention it in your website that it’s a MANDATORY REQUIREMENT. The FIlipino lady & guy ignored us and left us with the othe receptionist. so it meant that my friend was homeless. so If it could've been someone who lost an ID or passport from a far country, what would they have done? Mention in your reply on how your protocol would solve this problem. There was even no refund given since they just completely blocked out my friend . it's very unprofessional especially for a famous international brand. we all know that the front desk makes or break a hotel stay. this team totally broke it in all levels !
the room card key did't even work. good thing the mobile key worked after 3 tries .
However, the breakfast restaurant staff were all accommodating. They always anticipate your needs and go out of their way to help you. The front office should learn from them.
And even after replies from the front office management team regarding the problems mentioned above, there’s still no...
