Read moreI recently visited this restaurant with my family and unfortunately, our experience with the food left much to be desired. We ordered the haneeth ribs and local mutton mandi, hoping to enjoy a satisfying meal together. Firstly, the portions were surprisingly small, especially considering the prices. The dishes were served on plates that seemed more appropriate for individual servings rather than sharing among a family. This was quite disappointing as we had expected a more generous portion size, particularly for dishes like ribs and mandi. Secondly, the taste of the food did not meet our expectations. The haneeth ribs lacked flavor, and the local mutton mandi was underwhelming. The mutton pieces were notably small, which further detracted from the overall dining experience. While the ambiance and service were pleasant, the quality and quantity of the food were not up to par. It's unfortunate because we had high hopes based on the café's reputation. Overall, based on our experience with the food, I cannot recommend this restaurant for a satisfying family meal. They might need to reconsider their portion sizes and ensure consistency in taste to match...
Read moreWhat a fabulous hidden gem in Hor Al Anz! A traditional Yemeni restaurant that we'd not planned to visit and never been before - just thought we'd take a wander and decide where to eat and stumbled by chance across Al Yemen Mandi! Served with soup for starters, cold water and fresh water melon juice, we ordered lamb shoulder, rice, grilled fish, beans and the recommendation was for the traditional Yemeni bread which was totally amazing! The salads were super fresh and with spinach leaves, slices of lemon to squeeze onto dishes, a small pot of fresh yoghurt and their home made spicy tomato chutney, I can honestly say we ate like kings and couldn't even finish all that we ordered! The lamb was sweet and tender and the fish was lightly spiced and very moist. Inside there are 'majlis' type private dining areas where men gather on brightly carpeted floors to eat. There's a family section, general seating area and outside seating area which we chose. A complete bargain for just AED 150 and awarding 5 stars for a fab dining experience we'll go back to! Well done Al...
