BASTA! — Restaurant in Dubai

Worst service ever. Not friendly at all. This will be our first and last time. Dubai is full of other better restaurant, don't loose your time with BASTA!.

We came around 9pm, 3 adults and 2 children. We ordered our meals and ask for Kids Menu at the same time. As the waiter forgot to come get the kids Menu forms we call him back and ask to hurry up.

The adults were served with a normal timing but still no signs from the children meals. I ask when it will arrive, the manager told be between 8 to 12min for the penne to be cooked. We had the time to finish our meals discuss and drink our bottle and still no signs of the food.

When we finished we were quite upset and decide to cancel the children menu.

10 minutes later they still came with the children meals saying it's ready now even. At that moment I understood that they don't care about customer but more about money.

No apologies at all, only arguing that it's has not been a long time ago. They don't care what you're saying at all. I inisist about not wanting that food on the table and do whatever you want with it.

I decide to speak with the "manager", seems to be an Italian guy, I told him that we have been waiting more than 45min and still the children were not served. He was doubting about what I said. I'm pretty sure about what I said, I had a meeting at the same time and checked my watch. How can Children be served more than 30 minutes after us. It's a shame and also the first time that it happend in Dubai for us.

He keep telling me that he has to make investigation ?! I told him that won't change anything for us. And that until now, nobody at all even said sorry once. So they just keep arguing so you pay and leav. He told me sorry, but it was too late, I don't need to explain him his job.

As I explain I'm not interested with internal organisation and who was wrong in the restaurant, the fact is that our children didn't enjoy at all their meals. It is our wrost experience ever in Dubai.

The moment we had to pay the bill, we had 2 beautiful take away package with the children meals. I told the manager that I'm going to pay for them but I don't want them and he tolds me that he can't accept the meals back because the kitchen will kill him?!

As I understand, not the first time that Kitchen is unhappy about their job quality.

He didn't propose anything else that doing better next time. After giving my feedback he decide to offer us a dessert, but we were already paying and at the exit. We didn't enjoy at all our experience there.

It was big joke, we didn't mean to be rude but please listen to your custmer and stop arguing with them, it's not professional at all.

It's really petty because, the place is good, the view also, the food was good.

From the hostess side k have to say thank you. The lady who answered for my reservation was very polite and helpful as well when we walked-in. Thank you. The horror started afterwards...service is defo not up to standard as the waiter took over 15 minutes to come to the table asking already for the order without giving us a menu. We order a bottle of white and red, the red was put on the table without the cork, so could be any flies on it or who knows what so we use a napkin to cover it. We order some starters to share( the knowledge of the waiter was very poor) and the best part comes when 15 minutes just before their last order the waiter offers another round of drinks suggesting a bottle of wine( perfect for his upsell, without letting us know is the LAST ORDER and the closing 15 minutes after. So he came to the table to take the plates, glasses and even the candle which we asked to be there at least until we move and he was ok with it. He left as he shift finish and Jorge" guessing the supervisor" came straight away with an attitude to tell us, ok guys we are close already so you have to leave. With that words...he did not bother to come on the whole night, no even sorry guys, or apologies but you need to leave, nothing. When I ask him do you speak Spanish as I could see on his name his answer was " I don't think is the moment now to speak " excuse me, I'm still a customer even I'm leaving . So his arrogance, his attitude of making the end of our night miserable is what makes me write this review so hopefully he can realize that he is not ready for his position, not humble at all with guests in customer service situations....
