Welcome, food aficionados, to a gastronomic adventure at Masti, the vibrant, Michelin Guide-listed gem that has brought a dash of 'New India' to Dubai's culinary scene. You will embark on a journey of flavors, colors, and creativity that's set to tantalize your taste buds.

As you step into Masti, you're immediately greeted by an enchanting ambiance. Tucked away on the first floor of Downtown's Edition Hotel, the entrance is a mesmerizing mirrored corridor bursting with vibrant hues, giving you a glimpse of the artistic journey that lies ahead. The intimate dining room, with its open kitchen and floor-to-ceiling mosaic orange lights, sets the stage for an almost theatrical dining experience.

The main dining room, has a cozy terrace overlooks the Dubai Mall, and a colorful bar steals the spotlight with its iconic stained glass elephant centerpiece. Plush velvet seating beckons you to sink in and savor every moment.

Onto the main event – the food. Each dish at Masti is an unexpected work of art. It's a culinary journey through India's vibrant street food scene, all on a single plate.

If you're looking for value without compromising on quality, don't miss Masti's business lunch from Monday to Friday. With options for two or three courses, inclusive of a glass of house wine, a mocktail, or water, it's an unbeatable deal. Pair that with the fantastic ambiance and attentive service, and you've got yourself a winning combination.

The pulled Tandoori chicken Bao, a delightful fusion of flavors, boasts perfectly cooked, juicy morsels of chicken.

But the real showstopper is the Lamb Morels Korma with saffron rice. This dish strikes a perfect balance with its mild spicy flavor and tender chunks of meat. It's comfort food elevated to a whole new level of sophistication.

And for dessert lovers, the Mango Cheesecake Tart is nothing short of a dream come true. It's a symphony of tropical sweetness and creamy indulgence that'll leave your taste buds dancing in delight.

Now, let's talk libations. Masti doesn't just excel in its culinary offerings; it's a master of mixology too. The Ayurveda-inspired cocktail menu is a must-try, and my personal favorite is the T-Negroni. It's strong, yet perfectly crafted, taking your taste buds on an unforgettable journey.

Masti is a culinary marvel that takes hospitality, presentation, and taste very seriously. It's a place where creativity meets authenticity, and where every dish is a delightful surprise. Whether you're a foodie, a couple seeking a romantic evening, or a family in search of an exquisite meal, I recommend Masti wholeheartedly. You'll be planning your return visit before you've even finished your meal. So, take my advice, and indulge in the pleasures of Masti – a taste of 'New India' in the...

Disappointed by the Loss of Authenticity

I recently visited Masti which was my favourite restaurant that I had heard so many great things about. However, I left feeling disappointed and let down by the changes they made to their menu. The addition of steaks completely altered the authenticity of the place, and it just didn’t feel like the same restaurant anymore.

One of the main reasons I love Indian cuisine is because of its rich flavors, unique spices, and vegetarian options. It’s a cuisine that has its own identity, and I always appreciated how this particular restaurant embraced that identity. So, when I saw that they had added steaks to their menu, I couldn’t help but feel like they were trying to cater to a different audience, sacrificing their authenticity in the process.

The steaks themselves were decent, but they just didn’t belong in an Indian restaurant. They lacked the vibrant flavors and aromatic spices that I had come to expect from this place. It felt like a forced attempt to appeal to a wider range of customers, rather than staying true to their roots.

I understand that businesses need to adapt and evolve, but it’s important to do so without losing sight of what made them successful in the first place. In this case, the addition of steaks felt like a step in the wrong direction. I hope the restaurant reconsiders their menu changes and brings back the authenticity and variety that made it a favorite among Indian fusion cuisine enthusiasts.

Overall, I left the restaurant feeling disappointed and longing for the flavors and dishes that had initially drawn me to it. I hope they take this feedback into consideration and find a way to restore the authenticity that once made...

Masti translates as “fun and mischief”, a concept that appeals to all sort of cool folks: millennials, hipsters, Instagram stars, desperate housewives, startuppers and “seen it all” DIFC girlz and boyz (these are the categories that popped up first in my head). The restaurant’s approach of blurring limits applies to everything you see, hear, touch or taste. Being the first (and only at the moment) licensed restaurant at La Mer, they are obliged to experiment and amaze.

Extraordinary, but fact: the restaurant with a “license to pour” is not a part of a hotel, but a completely independent establishment at the South side of La Mer. The existence of Masti is a fantastic occurrence on its own, inaugurating a new era in UAE food and beverage business, and paired with some pretty awesome cocktails is an offer one cannot simply miss. The the restaurant consists of two levels, with drinks served after 5pm on the first floor and their fantastic upper terrace overlooking the beach and the Downtown.

While many may stop to sip the night away, Masti is definitely not just a pretty lounge with epic cocktails. The majority of dishes on the menu represent the change in dining happening all over the globe. Set as Indian Fusion cuisine, the restaurant breaks all obvious stereotypes and expectations by offering food that exists nowhere else. Have you ever tried any of the following: naan pizza with burrata and butter chicken, tuna tartar mixed with crunchy puffed rice, caved in a shell of unsweetened sugar, smoky lamb croquettes with a side of chopped sweet onions, lotus cookie tiramisu in a pool of saffron or a mysterious sounding dessert called...

A lovely vibe and settling against Dubai’s La Mer beach backdrop serving Indian fusion and some of the city’s best beverages - cocktails and mocktails. For starters, I highly recommend the avocado ceviche pani puri and the chipotle paneer tikka. The cassava chaat was recommended by our host, which was also yum, but a bit hard since the cassava was all fried. I wasn’t much of a fan of the burrata and truffle pizza since the base tasted as though stale oil was used. The beetroot croquettes were a unique starter I tried that beetroot fans would appreciate. For the mains, the saag paneer lasagne was amazing! Like a spinach lasagne with makhani gravy. For mock meat lovers, the impossible kofta was delicious - the gravy was a rich peanut, coconut and sesame base with stuffed pepper recommendation by our host. I also got a side of the dosa waffle which I highly ship as a pair with any gravy-based main. As for the drinks, the Mum-bay and pop-beat mocktails was delicious. I found the mellow yellow and fig-brew mocktails a bit too sweet, so if you’re not much of a sweet tooth, it would be worth letting your host know to tone it down. Masti’s lotus, snap and crackle dessert was a wonderful experience! They make the saffron basundi right in front of you with liquid nitrogen, and top the dessert with saffron, pistachio, caramel and sweet crackles. The end result is an interesting yet wholesome palette experience with different textures playing on your tongue. Loved the tiramisu cream sandwich (with Lotus biscuits) 💯
