The interior of the restaurant is impressive, which had art (portraits and other decorations) inspired by the owner’s Palestinian heritage. I found that the tree in the center of the restaurant, which I interpreted as a symbol of the Palestinian olive tree, to be a classy touch.
The food at Sufret Maryam far exceeded my expectations. We started with some amazing appetizers. The “5obj Al Balady” was a highlight, with its soft texture and a perfect blend of zaatar and other spices, served with a delicious labneh spread and olive oil. The unique take on the kebbeh was also a nice surprise, unlike any I’ve had before.
For the main course, we ordered the mansaf, which was out of this world. The jameed was perfectly made, the lamb was tender and juicy, and the rice was cooked to perfection. The lamb chops were another standout, seasoned beautifully and absolutely hitting the spot. The shoshbarak, one of my all-time favorite Arabic dishes, was exceptionally well done, with a fantastic sauce that elevated the dish.
The desserts at Sufret Maryam were mouthwatering. We tried the crambole, which was a delightful mix of flavors with a unique twist that left us all pleasantly surprised and...

I recently visited Sufret Maryam, the new restaurant by Chef Salam Daqqaq, and was absolutely blown away! The ambiance at Wasl 51 is beautifully done, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.
As a vegetarian, I was really impressed with the number of options available on the menu. We started with the silky hummus, which was perfection. But the highlight for me was the Khobez Al Bait — hands down the best bread I’ve ever had. It came with roasted garlic, labneh, and a tomato salsa that was just out of this world. Every bite was a flavor explosion.
Another standout was the Labneh Brûlée with zaatar ice cream. I never expected zaatar to work so well in ice cream, but it was an amazing balance of flavors, topped with sumac for that extra punch. The olive oil they use is clearly of high quality — you can taste the difference.
The mocktails also deserve a mention, as they pay homage to Levantine classics with some truly unique flavor profiles. We only had the chance to try a few dishes since it was just the two of us, but I can’t wait to go back and try the rest of the menu.
Service was attentive and friendly throughout our meal, and the fact that they offer free basement parking is such a bonus, especially in this area.
Highly recommend Sufret Maryam for anyone who loves authentic Levantine flavors with a twist. I’ll definitely be...
