Apparently, Comfort Is a Crime If You’re Only Two People 🙃

I’ve lived in Dubai for 42 years, eaten everywhere from tiny shawarma stalls to top-rated Michelin restaurants, but this… this was a new level of hospitality innovation.

We walked in — two adults with human-sized limbs — and politely asked for a table for four because, you know, the two-person tables had seats about as comfortable as a bus stop bench. The waitress, with the solemn authority of someone guarding a nuclear launch code, looked at us and declared:

“You cannot sit on a 4-person table.”

Not “I’m sorry, we’re fully booked”, not “let me check with my manager”. Just a firm, proud, you shall not pass.

Apparently, the restaurant operates under a strict seating theology — tables are sacred and assigned by divine decree based on the number of souls in your party. Comfort, logic, and customer experience are optional extras.

So yes — in a city where Michelin-starred restaurants rearrange half their dining room just to make guests comfortable, this place decided that two people at a 4-seater table would somehow disrupt the cosmic balance of their seating chart.

I highlighted this shameful behavior to the branch manager, simply left without ordering. And I’m writing this here in the hope that maybe, just maybe, this kind of crazy, outdated behavior will stop and our city’s restaurants will live up to the standard of hospitality Dubai is known for.

I’ve traveled the world — from Japan to the U.S. — and I have never seen anything like this. Truly a first.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for creativity. ⭐️ for...

This was my second time visiting Brunch & Cake over a year later, and I was super pleased to find that this establishment has maintained their impeccable standards. From the ambience & decor, to the amazing variety on their menu, to the friendly staff- my experience was fantastic!

I ordered a V60 coffee which was brewed perfectly, although my only reservation would be the portion (I'm typically used to being able to pour 3-4 cups out, but this was only good for 2 cups). My sister ordered a cappuccino (in a takeaway cup as per her preference), which was also brewed well with the perfect balance of coffee and steamed milk foam. Both of our drinks came with an iced madeleine which was super fresh and tasty, we couldn't resist asking for more.

My sister and I shared two breakfast entree's which were the: Eggs Carbonara & Pulled Beef Benny. I cannot think of a single bite that I did not savour, the food was absolutely delightful. The incorporation of parmesan into the eggs was divine and the pulled beef was flavourful, which paired extremely well with the fresh avocado.

The portion sizes were huge, which is not a common find in Dubai especially with such quality ingredients. So naturally we did not have space for any cake, which is unfortunate because the cakes on display looked so delectable and fresh.

Overall, my morning was certainly made great thanks to Brunch & Cake and I'll definitely be back in the near future.

A special thanks to our server Abdelkader who was extremely friendly, patient and...

Never again. Me and my friends went to have brunch after a long week of school and exams (we are 15) and as soon as we got there they told me that we had to wait for a table, they didnt even take my number or name and i had to ask several times until i got my name on the list. We got seated and has to wait 30 minutes for a waiter to take our order even though we asked twice, when we finally got our order taken we got our food AN HOUR after, and some people got a table AFTER US and got their food in under 30 minutes??? I mean thats crazy and its clear they mistreated us because we are teens and dont have an adult with us. Even with our food taking an hour they completely forgot one of my friends order?? And gave her something very last minute that she did not like, now if we were a family they would have profusely apologized and given us compensation but i guess not because we arent a priority to them. We also ordered a large water for sharing but it finished and barely filled two glasses, so one of my friends got up and went to choithrams which is nearby to get some extra and they has the nerve to tell us water from outside isnt allowed??? Mind you the water was inside our bags we just filled our glasses once in a while. The food was good not great. And after ALL OF THIS, we got the bill and a 10% service charge was forced on us?? Service charge for what??? Late food and being mistreated?! The service charge was almost 40 dirhams and i am absolutely baffled....

Brunch & Cake is one of the most talked about places in ‘Gram and we decided to get it a try. Its located in Jumeirah1. They have a beautiful beachy ambience with leaves and surf boards and low hanging installations. I totally get the buzz and is one of the best instagrammable cafes out there. They serve on a first come fire serve basis, so there might be a waiting period if you’re going on a weekend. I had to wait around 10 minutes to get the table. However, the staff was super friendly and offered us Orange infused water. A welcome gesture given the scorching heat outside. Our waiter was super courteous and even helped us pick our dishes. We order a Big Scramble and a Breakfast Calzone , a detox green drink and a Black Peanut Butter Latte. The food was simply delicious, The Big Scramble had eggs, smoked salmon, Sundried tomatoes and were all rich in flavor. The Breakfast Calzone was amazing too, it was rich and creamy with a perfectly baked bread. The Black Peanut Butter Latte was such an amazing find. I had never tasted something like that before. Simply brilliant. The Detox Green was amazing too. It is a little expensive, at around AED150-200 per person. But totally worth it. The portion sizes are really good. I saw many people packing the leftovers as they couldn’t finish including us. We ordered a Pistachio Milk Cake for dessert and it was delicious and the portion size is more than good for 2 people. Must Try : Black Peanut Butter Latte

Five days in to its opening Brunch & Cake, that’s the first one out of Barcelona is doing great. the place is well light, high roofs, gorgeous chic interiors. The menu is interesting, as a-pose to just brunch there’s actual lunch & dinner dishes, followed by exclusive desserts too. They open at 8 am, expect a waiting time, I went at 10, and still had to wait around 15 mins to get a table. Hoping the outdoor weather gets better cause they’ve a additional seating area. I’m not big on Benedict although the ones here looked promising, they’ve a dish that is eggs, avo on a bed of black waffles, went for shashouka instead, which was a ginormous helping ( wasn’t warned) and that too was presented in very unique manner, looked like a flower, with the eggs on top, delicious. Next was a Pistachio French Toast, every where else also on the menu you see little local palate infusions which I found very cute & thoughtful. the French toast however didn’t really stand out for me, it was quickly removed and taken care of, shout out to Megan, who was a wonderful hostess. Next was the Brownie Waffles these came with nuts and pretzels, were rich and goey. Lastly to drink I had the butter pecan, very interesting. I would highly recommend going to this place for the freshness of the menu & nice clean food. Prices too for breakfast I found decent
