Dishtrict- serving world's cuisine on your table
DISHTRICT, a new addition in the homegrown restaurants in Dubai is located in the beautiful location of Jumeirah’s Wasl 51.
As we all know that, traveling was really challenging at the moment, with this thought DISHTRICT is promising to take diners on a “culinary adventure” around the world via its unique menu of fusion.
From the Middle East to Malaysia and India to Italy, the menu features a fusion of foodie favourites from across the globe.
The ambiance is done artistically with pretty furniture & murals on the walls. Staff is very friendly & welcoming.
Coming back to food ....
We started with some refreshing drinks Kiwi & Basil Tom Collins Passion Fruit Daiquiri Power House Banana Colada All four drinks were really good ... among all Banana Colada was my favorite.
After that they served us their signature mushroom soup & Almond soup. Really nice.
Then comes the appetizers ... the pretty Avocado edamame’ mango salad was as delicious as it looks... with all the fresh ingredients it was just perfect to start with. Pretzel Chicken fries served with bazooka sauce ... kids really loved it. Dishtrict Dynamite Shrimps with an Indian fusion ... we loved the way they served it in a Papad cone covered with bhel. Tahini Nachos- An epic blend of Mexican chips with a middle eastern dressing. Oman Chips Kumpir- Turkish style stuffed potato with broccoli, mushroom & cheese ... served with lots & lots of cheese on top & garnished with crushed Omani chips. A unique & delicious combination. Lamb Gulaoti Tacos- soft tacos with crumbled lamb kebab & mint sauce ... a modern version of kebab paratha. 😍 Tandoori Chicken Yakitori- a Japanese version of the traditional chicken tikka ... simply amazing Deconstructed Falafel flatbread- flatbread baked with falafel topped with lettuce, pickles & tahini .. another fusion dish which we loved a lot.
So . That was just for the starters ... now comes the main course... we tried Katsu Biryani- traditional Biryani rice served with Katsu curry, sweet potato & eggplant katsu chicken. Never thought Biryani can be served in this way too ... & surprisingly it was delicious Malay Charcoal Fish- Malaysian style fish fillet served on broccoli rice ... one of the best fish fillet we ever tried.
We all have a sweet tooth, so we end our fusion meal with interesting desserts like the gulab jamun cheesecake, the walnut and rose petal halwa which comes served in a golden globe & a must to try at Dishtrict.
We ended our luxurious meal with a simple cup of karak tea.
Dishtrict is definitely a highly recommendable place with an amazing variety of food ... amazing service & beautiful location. A perfect place to dine in with your...
Read moreTook the family out for dinner to Dishtrict after being highly impressed with their breakfast menu and all I can say is this place needs a bit of commotion.
Located in the trendy neighborhood of Wasl 51, Dishtrict is a modest but chic restaurant which leaves the ‘oomph factor’ to their dishes. While fusion cuisine is a familiar concept, Dishtrict does fusion well..quite ‘dish’tinctly with never before tasted flavor profiles.
Waited on and served by the charming Anna, we took a trip around the globe right in multicultural Dubai.
First up on the world stage were the Beverages, Kiwi & Basil Tom Collins, Passion Fruit Daiquiri and Blue Sipper, all were a refreshing welcome.
From the Appetizers we explored the:
Avocado, Edamame & Mango Chaat: This was undoubtedly a combination I did not quite expect to LOVE so much. A beautiful take on Chaat. Dishtrict Dynamite Shrimp: Spooned into a papad cone, this version of dynamite shrimp was a hit at the table as the shrimp was not coated in the usual viscosity of the dynamite sauce but managed to impart very ‘Chaat-ish’ flavor in each bite. Brilliant! Schezwan Chicken Gyoza: While this gyoza certainly piqued our interest, it was most under-whelming appetizer and did not pack the expected punch. Lamb Galouti Tacos: The twist to this dish is the butter chicken marinade. Easy to eat, these bite-sized tacos were pockets of flavor.
For the main courses, we tried:
Green Curry Risotto (Chicken): Loved the Italian spin to this Thai favorite. The portion is big enough for two and forget ice cream, this is my new favorite comfort food! LOVE!!! Malay Charcoal Fish: Served on a bed of broccoli rice and turmeric-colored creamy curry, this is a great dish to try if you are on a diet. Too healthy haha Dishtrict Volcano Maki: For all the Dubai OGs, this is your sushi fix with a touch of nostalgia aka Oman Chips. Butter Chicken Flatbread: A crispier take on naan, however, the flavor of the butter chicken did not hit home for me.
Finally, bringing the culinary journey to its Sweet Ending:
Blazin’ Walnut & Rose Petal Halwa: Presentation was instagrammable and flavor wise, a sophisticated take on the traditional halwa – Must try!. Mr. Moshi’s Molten Meltdown: Dishtrict stayed true to this dessert, as you can’t go wrong with berries, ice-cream and chocolate lava cake.
All in all, if you’re torn between different cuisines, or you’re contemplating trying a new cuisine, Dishtrict offers a way of dipping your toes in international waters. Also, a great place to impress guests who love Indian flavors but would appreciate a...
Read moreAn Evening of Disappointments, Served Course by Course. We chose Dishtrict for what was supposed to be a fine date-night dinner for two. Unfortunately, the experience turned into one long chain of letdowns.
The trouble started right at the beginning. The menu clearly states “select any 2” from the beverage options, so we ordered two lassis. Simple enough, right? Wrong. The staff insisted we could not order the same item, even though nothing on the menu suggested otherwise. After some back and forth, we settled for one lassi and one lemonade. Big mistake. The lassi was nothing more than flavored water — bland, thin, and completely forgettable. In hindsight, we should have gone with two lemonades, because at least that’s hard to ruin.
Then came the appetizer: soya tikka. Instead of something tender and flavorful, what we got felt like reheated rubber. Chewy, dry, lifeless — like it had been microwaved multiple times. By this point, we were still holding out hope for the main course.
We ordered paneer tikka masala — a dish that’s usually a safe bet anywhere. But somehow, even that was a disaster. What arrived was basically cashew paste masquerading as gravy, with no aroma, no balance, no character. It was baffling how anyone could get this so wrong.
By then, the evening was ruined. What should have been a warm, memorable dinner date had turned into a regretful choice.
To make matters worse, when we tried to pay through Zomato (which offers a discount), the restaurant refused to accept it, dismissing it outright. Saving a few bucks seemed more important to them than honoring their own listed payment options.
Here’s the truth: people don’t come to a restaurant for discounts. They come for good food, honest service, and memories worth keeping. Dishtrict delivered none of those. We left with nothing but disappointment — and a strong resolve...
