A new addition to the Dubai urban dining scene, Urth Café is already packed ten days after opening. It’s understandable that City Walk attracts wondering crowds but knowing how tough the competition is, it was a surprise to see no vacant tables at 8pm on a Sunday night while other cafes and restaurants struggle to attract guests. Good I followed my proven to be wise rule of always reserving a table. Always!
Unlike a few, Urth wasn’t born in Dubai. First opened in LA, it turned into a sensation in Saudi Arabia mostly thanks to incredible selection of signature coffees, the finest teas and sweetest cakes, a must-have on any menu in the Middle East. We love our freshly brewed cuppa here day and night :)
However to be fair, Urth is far more than just a trendy coffee shop. Focused on fine ingredients sourced locally, regionally and internationally, they do pay attention to delivering delicious popular dishes with a twist. Lasagne Bolognese, for example was served with crushed pistachios on a side of a creamy sauce. The wild mushroom pizza with the crunchiest crust was prepared with the tastiest burrata imaginable. Chicken quesadillas were hot, tender and irresistible with a side of black beans, freshly chopped salsa, sour cream and guacamole. For dessert I ordered a fragrant cup of jasmine tea and a full size cheese platter (everyone around me shared mouth watering cakes and pastry, but I love cheese!).
Another reason to visit Urth, it’s a great place to actually meet Emiratis and get a glimpse of the local...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Urth Cafe, where I was fortunate enough to be served by Mr. Anil, a truly generous and attentive server. From the moment we arrived, he took the time to understand our preferences and suggested dishes that fit our tastes perfectly.
As someone who isn’t typically a fan of vegetables, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed the dishes he recommended. The Tostada Salad was a vibrant combination of fresh lettuce, tomatoes, green vegetable garnish, creamy avocado, cheese, and tender chicken. The balance of flavors and textures was amazing, and it turned out to be a delicious, satisfying dish that was far from what I usually expect from a "vegetable-heavy" meal.
The Picante Pizza, which was packed with cheddar, mozzarella, jalapeños, and succulent chicken, was another standout. The crust was perfectly crisp, and the combination of spicy jalapeños and melted cheese gave it just the right amount of kick, without being overwhelming. The chicken added a savory depth, making it a satisfying choice for anyone who enjoys a meat-forward, flavorful pizza without the inclusion of vegetables.
Thanks to Mr. Anil's thoughtful recommendations, our meal was nothing short of amazing. The food was flavorful and expertly prepared, and the overall experience at Urth Cafe was fantastic. I’ll definitely be coming back to explore more of their delicious menu....
Read moreExtremely Disappointing Experience – Especially Due to the Manager’s Unprofessional Conduct
My visit was completely ruined by the appalling behavior of the manager. From the moment I arrived, his attitude was dismissive, arrogant, and shockingly rude. He spoke to customers with zero courtesy, acted like he was being inconvenienced by basic questions, and showed no interest in resolving issues or offering any kind of support. It felt like he was actively trying to push people away rather than create a welcoming environment.
I genuinely don’t understand how someone with such poor interpersonal skills and lack of professionalism was hired for a customer-facing role. His tone was condescending, his body language aggressive, and he made no effort to listen or empathize. Instead of de-escalating concerns, he added fuel to the fire with sarcastic remarks and eye-rolling.
This kind of behavior reflects terribly on Urth’s management. If they care at all about their reputation and customer satisfaction, they need to seriously reconsider who they’re...
