Been a customer since “Goodies” days so that’s over 2 decades. And after not visiting for a year or so, today officially changed my nostalgia, my thoughts, my feelings and ideas attached to Wafi Gourmet. After running errands in Wafi and realizing most restaurants closed early, I arrived at Wafi Gourmet at around 11-11:15 pm. I asked nicely if they are still serving food, they said yes and escorted us to our chosen seats. We were then told that it’s “last order” because they should “close before 12” without specifying how long exactly do we have to order or when the last order is, or if they close the counter or the whole place at 12. Just as my husband and I tried to scan the barcode to get the e-menu, a waiter came to us and remained standing, putting us under pressure. We expressed how we need a minute! The barcode wasn’t even working and I asked for a physical menu but he refused to give me claiming that not everything on the menu is available right now, and he proceeded to verbally tell us what is available, continuing to pressure us. We just ordered the first things that came to mind just to get rid of his frustrating presence. Serving the food, the 2-3 different staff were mindlessly putting the plates on the table (with their fingers placed on the inner rim of the appetizer bowls), and one even touched my mobile phone to move it (he has no right to touch our belongings - he could simply ask me to move it). Then 5 minutes in, they came with the bill asking us to pay. I understand it was late, but I don’t understand the lack of professionalism. They could either not allow us in if they were wrapping up, or simply inform us that we should order by (whatever time the last order is at) and that we should pay ahead. But to let us in and then follow us around and pressure us, interrupt us, and gather to watch us from a distance as if we are under surveillance is NOT acceptable. We felt rushed and couldn’t even eat fast because the food was too hot. So we packed most of it for takeout at around 11:40. By 11:50 we were out (I couldn’t rush drinking my tea lol). And speaking of the food since I was “denied” a menu, the maneesh I ordered according to the waiter’s verbal menu, was actually a saj flat bread when I received it. Food isn’t bad honestly, but for the price and service… I’d rather go elsewhere to have a more decent experience. You...

Read moreI recently went to Wafi Gourmet for the first time as I had Wafi points I wanted to redeem. The manager assisted us and explained everything extremely well. The rest of the staff were very helpful as well. Their service as a whole was outstanding. I tried their grilled lamb chops, chocolate cookies, kunafa and cheese and zaatar manakish. The lamb chops were disappointing as they were over cooked but they did come with a nice onion salad and pickle. The kunafa was excellent as was the chocolate cookies. They were both the highlight of the visit. The manakish was nice but the quality of the flour they use might react for people with mild gluten intolerance. I have gotten much better and can usually process most forms of gluten but not the lower quality kinds which was surprising because the restaurant looks like it uses high quality ingredients. Alternatively, it could’ve been some other reason I reacted as it was the only thing I reacted to. The prices were very expensive unfortunately but the cookies and the kunafa are completely worth it in my opinion. Just make sure to refrigerate the kunafa the same day or it will go bad. Would recommend coming back but just be mindful of any intolerances, which I’m sure if you tell them, they will accommodate you as their service...
