Absolutely fantastic! Cartoos in Aberdeen is more than just a restaurant - it’s a warm, welcoming experience from start to finish. From the moment we walked through the door, the incredible staff made us feel right at home. Their friendliness and attentiveness created such a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere for me and my family, and we couldn’t have felt more welcome.
A very special shoutout has to go to Sha, who truly made our evening unforgettable. His kindness, humour, and genuinely caring attitude stood out from the moment we met him. He brought a wonderful mix of humour and kindness to our meal and truly made our night, with his caring nature, positive attitude, and genuinely amazing personality. He really went the extra mile to make us feel special, and we were all touched by how thoughtful and attentive he was.
The food, as always, was top-notch, delicious, beautifully presented, and made with care. Every dish was packed with flavour and the quality is consistently outstanding. The atmosphere inside Cartoos is another highlight: warm and relaxing, with tasteful décor and lovely colour tones that give the place a classy, elegant feel while still maintaining that relaxed and comfortable feel.
What truly sets Cartoos apart is the genuine passion the staff have for what they do. You can feel how much they care - not just about the food, but about making sure every guest has a memorable experience. That dedication was shown even more when we asked the staff to take a photo of our table, they didn’t just snap a picture - they brought over a bowl of dry ice, added water, and created a magical smoky effect to make the moment extra special. It was such a thoughtful and creative gesture!
Later, my Granny and I visited the in-house ice cream parlour, which has a fantastic selection of flavours. Not only did they give us generous servings, but Sha also kindly carried our ice creams back to the table for us, making sure we were fully looked after right to the end.
This level of care and hospitality is exactly why we keep coming back. Every visit leaves us with full stomachs and full hearts. My Granny left that evening with the biggest smile - and that says it all. The team at Cartoos, especially Sha, go above and beyond every single time, and we’re so grateful for the experiences they create.
We can’t recommend Cartoos enough - truly the best restaurant with the most incredible staff and consistently outstanding food. A perfect choice for anyone looking to feel valued, relaxed, and...
Read moreWhen we first walked in, I did notice that the interior showed a bit of wear and tear, with some areas that could use a little refreshing or repair. It’s nothing that ruined the experience, but updating a few details could really elevate the atmosphere to match the fantastic quality of the food and service.
Speaking of which — the service was absolutely outstanding. We were warmly greeted by a lovely gentleman who showed us to our table with a big smile, instantly making us feel welcome.
The menu was another highlight, offering a great variety for different tastes. I’m a big seafood lover, while my husband prefers meat, and we were both more than happy with the options. The portion sizes are very generous — so much so that for once, we skipped dessert because we were already full!
To start, we shared a creamy mushroom sauce with bread, which was rich, flavorful, and perfect for setting the tone of the meal. I chose the special salmon dish, which included a generous piece of salmon, prawns, and potatoes, all topped with a delicious mushroom sauce. It was cooked perfectly — juicy, flavorful, and the salmon itself was wonderfully chunky, which is quite rare to find.
My husband ordered a mixed meat platter that came with koftas, chicken, beef, and lamb alongside rice. He loved every bite, and I can say the chicken was incredibly tender and full of flavor — not dry at all, which is often a challenge with grilled meats.
Before our starter, we were served a lentil soup that was simply the best I’ve ever had. I even asked for the recipe! Unfortunately, I couldn’t get it as each chef prepares it slightly differently, especially to accommodate for allergens — which I completely understand. Honestly, I would come back just for the lentil soup alone.
Overall, while there are a few minor cosmetic improvements that could make the environment feel even more inviting, they don’t take away from the wonderful dining experience. The food and service both exceeded our expectations, and for that reason, I’m giving a full 5 stars. I look forward to...
Read moreAfter seeing the hundreds of fantastic reviews for Cartoos Grill house at the beach it would be easy to assume ah well I don't really need to take time to write another one, but when the food and service you receive at this wonderful beach restaurant is so exceptional I can't stop myself. My wife and I love going for walks at the Aberdeen beach and after we usually treat ourselves to a sausage or bacon roll at the Pavillion or Inversnecky cafe. This time we decided to try something different and go to Cartoos What a great idea this was. From the moment we arrived we were treated like we had walked into a 5 star hotel. A radiant smile from a lady called Aga who took our order, we decided to go for avocado on toast with a choice of eggs and tea for two. It arrived very soon after and what can only be described as a picture on a plate. It looked fantastic and tasted even better. The pot of tea could have replenished four people it was so large and also lovely. After we finished we were offered some cake for a free taste that had been made in house by another beautiful lady which I am sorry to say we have forgotten her name, but we will never forget the cake as it was delightful and obviously made with love. We had a lovely chat with Aga, at the end who I think could be the manager or even the owner as she held herself with such poise and style. This will now be the place we go to whenever we are at the beach, be it breakfast, lunch or evening meal. The food and service was nothing short of...
