I purchased a Tango Ice Blast / slushie, but it had a mushy texture and no juice could be sucked through the straw. When I returned it, the waitress (with dark hair and eyelash extensions) responded with rudeness and a passive-aggressive attitude, saying, “It’s a slushie, what do you expect?” I explained that I’ve had many slushies before, particularly from the cinema, and I know what the texture and taste should be like. She said she would have the manager “try it,” though I found it odd that having the manager make a fresh one for herself would somehow help diagnose the issue with my drink. Nevertheless, the manager emerged and claimed the one she made for herself was perfectly fine. I attempted to demonstrate the issue by drinking from my cup showing them that no juice came through the straw. The manager shrugged it off, suggesting I had probably already consumed the juice, despite the fact the drink was completely full when I returned it. When I mentioned that I had tried slushies from this place before, the waitress shouted from the back, “You said the cinema,” in a way that made it sound like I was lying or contradicting myself. I was simply trying to explain I had experience with this kind of drink. I then asked for a replacement since the manager claimed hers was fine, but was told that since all the slushies came from the same machine, mine couldn’t possibly be faulty. I pointed out that we had paid £3.50 for it, only to have both the manager and waitress cut me off with, “It’s actually £4.50,” which only made the situation more frustrating. I again explained that the drink was entirely mushy and impossible to drink, to which the manager sighed and said, “I’ll just give you a refund.” The entire experience left me feeling unfairly judged and deeply uncomfortable—as if I had done something wrong by returning a clearly faulty, untouched drink. The attitude from both staff members was unnecessary and unprofessional. I won’t be returning, and quite frankly, the waitress would be far better suited to a role that doesn’t require dealing with the public or any form of...
Read moreA couple of days ago, my mum and I decided to visit Promenade Cafe. Since we had a dog with us, we chose to sit outside.
We ordered two coffees, scones, and a breakfast item from their menu (which included two sausages, bacon, and an egg). My mum asked for a side salad, and although the waitress initially said they didn’t have it, she kindly offered to make one, which we appreciated.
As we started eating, a seagull dive-bombed into our food, making the meal stressful and less enjoyable. When we began eating the salad, we found it was barely edible; the salad leaves were dirty and included hard bits that are usually discarded.
Shocked by the seagull incident, my mum nervously spoke to the waitress about the salad and the seagull. We hoped for an apology, but instead, the waitress began shouting and defensively say, there’s nothing wrong with their salad, it’s their garnish that’s why it looks like this. But I believe garnish should also look edible
When my mum came outside to talk to me, the waitress followed, collected our dishes, and continued to speak loudly and aggressively to us. She insisted there was nothing wrong with the salad and completely disregarded our concerns. I had to repeatedly ask her to stop speaking to us in such a manner, as it was entirely inappropriate for a waitress to shout at customers. Instead of apologizing, she claimed that the salad wasn’t on the menu and was merely a garnish, which is why it was dirty.
We eventually received a refund, but the experience with the waitress completely put my mum and myself off returning to that place. As having experience as a waitress myself, I found her behavior incredibly unprofessional; she was neither calm nor receptive and was solely focused on defending the chef and the salad.
I rated the food 3 stars because the coffee and scones were nice and tasty, although the sausage and bacon were incredibly dry and salty. I gave 2 stars for service, as the waitress was initially kind and offered something off the menu. For atmosphere, I gave 3 stars since the cafe has a nice outside area and...
Read moreI’m a mom of a toddler and a baby. I needed to use toilet, change their nappies and fed them. So I got inside about lunch time, I ordered a coffee and a portion of fries…let me tell you that I was very pleasant with the service. Anna looked after my table. She was fabulous! She even took the fries away to get me fresh ones later while I was in the toilet with the children. By the way, toilets were spot on. I’m often by myself with the kids, the logistic isn’t always easy…some places refuse to warm up the kids food, others do it but the looks they give you are far from friendly or empathetic. This is a place to go back, that is for sure. Mostly because of Anna’s service...
