For this sort of prices you would expect something better than you usual takeaway, but the reality is quite different. In our first visit we blame the poor service to the fact that the place was really really packed with people (which made it incredibly noisy and hard to have a normal conversation). Service wasn't quick and some of the staff were even disrespectful. I understand what working under pressure is like, but they should be reminded that they are dealing with customers. My partner ordered the Sweet tea, which turned out to be a cup with ice with some sugary drink that she managed to drink in two sips. When asked about it, one of the managers (or assume she was one, because she wasn't wearing the upside-down elephant trousers) came to ask what the problem was and very rudely told us that they only serve it that way. Then the starters came, which looked like something from a farmfoods or iceland. The mains came, and the usual noodles with some sauce and a few peanuts. The fact that my noodles came with some meat, I will qualify as accidental because of the little amount in it. Again, we blamed this to the massive amount of people and the long waits and the amount of work (which shouldn't be an excuse, this is a service industry!)
We decided to give it a second chance.
In our second visit we asked for the same entry plate expecting a change. Change was not an option, and we started to fear that our visit was going to become a "dejà vu". We were not wrong. While waiting for our mains, some of the servers grabbed drums and started to shout and sing non-sense and do a "TGI Friday" on one poor customer. My partner ordered a plate of noodles with chicken which turned out to be more of a desert because of the amount of sugar in it. I ordered a pork belly that was supposed to be crispy and "cooked twice", but it was just a few chunks of pancetta with the rind, not crispy at all, more on the chewy side, with some green beans that hadn't been properly cleaned (they even still had the stringy bit and the ends!). The sauce was OK, but not lifechanging. When the server came to our table and asked how was everything, I told him about the poor state of my dish he mentioned that it is "marinated" I doubt that this gentleman knows the meaning of marinating, but what I deducted from his words is that the pork was in the sauce for too long.
The table right beside us suffered of the same issue as us, and swore, just like us, of never EVER, coming back.

Read moreI usually don't trust the quality of chain restaurants, but the high rating of Thaikhun, the fact that I was hungry and it was nearby, I decided to give it a go. The ambience is nice, it was Thai-themed and very cosy. I ordered the chicken satay skewers for starters and the prawn pad Thai as my main.
Both arrived at the same time. I started with the chicken skewers; they were very soft for chicken and tasted undercooked but they were edible so I forgot about it, maybe that's how Thai people eat it. I dug into the prawn pad Thai. The meal consisted of rice noodles and prawns, as well as a side of peanuts. Visibly, the meal looked mummified, I could suspect it was cooked more than once just from that. The prawns were COLD, and the noodles were BURNT both of which confirmed my meal was cooked earlier and simply over cooked once again in a pan. I returned the prawn pad Thai and exchanged it for chicken pad Thai. The noodles were much better but the chicken was to simply put, disgusting. It was leftover chicken which is easily recognisable from the irony leftover chicken taste. I honestly lost my appetite at that point and couldn't go on. The manager/staff did not seem to care about the quality of the food, it was simply rubbed off as the 'taste of the satay sauce' and no further action was done. Do your taste buds and body health a favour and...
Read moreFood was a bit of a disappointment, the starter of four pork and prawn dumplings arrived on my plate as one single unit and tasted like it had been squeezed from a Gregg's sausage roll... of which I am a fan of, however it wasnt worth the £7! The main course was described as a curry however arrived in a bowl and was a soup which I had to fish through to pull the chicken out.... very tasty but took a bit of time to get the chicken out, with the majority of the sauce left in the bowl I asked for some sticky rice to soak use some up, this arrived as a single block of rice, a bit like it had been overcooked and absorbed all the water therefore dried out together, although it was sticky, only in terms of being stuck together, I was unable to part it and seperate it, the parts which I did were just chunks.
I provided some feedback, not a complaint as such, to the manager and she was very appreciative and forthcoming with an apology and knocked 30% off the bill which was unexpected but a very nice gesture which will stick in my head next time I return! Maybe just a bad night in the kitchen with some basic errors but was handled very well and I...
