First and foremost the food is amazing! Fresh, flavoursome and great portion sizes. The prawn papaya salad is a must! The restaurant is small but lovely with a really great atmosphere. The food presentation is beautiful with some very unique touches - the wee bicycle baskets containing spring rolls and dips are adorable! It's BYOB with only £2 corkage per person and drinks can be stored in the fridge and delivered to your table at request, with fresh water and ice served and replaced regularly. The only wee gripe was having to spend 5 mins confirming our booking, showing emails and confirmation several times before finding out booking and then having to wait 30 mins for a table to free and then getting an email when seated changing our booking time to 15 mins later. But, overall, the food was outstanding I will 100% be back. At £32.50 per person for 2 starters and 2 mains which could, easily, have fed 4 and some of the tastiest, freshest food I've had in Aberdeen this place...
Read moreStrange little place!!! 8 to 10 tables, all very close which isn't fun when someone bumps passed to get to the loo!!!
Bring your own drink as there is no licence there. No issues for us tbh.
Food was served very quickly. Not surprised when there are only 10 tables. Prawns and sweet pot fritters were OK, strange that the prawn just sat on the grated sweet pot, sweet pot was pretty greasy. Spring rolls were great. Mains were fine, big bowls of flavoursome broth and noodles, other main was simply as it says, fried pork and rice, had some small garnishes too.
Not overly impressed tbh. Flavours that I've had before. Small crammed in tables with folk bumping to get passed.
Service got a low score as there isn't any, young guy takes order and delivers food. That's it. Best chat was when we were paying, some banter too!!!
Not going to be rushing back and sad to say that as there was a huge buzz about this place but don't feel it...
Read moreThe food at Viet An is good, but the service needs serious improvement. Despite having a booking, we waited 20 minutes to be seated with no communication from staff. Previous diners overstayed, chatting with the front-of-house instead of paying, and no effort was made to move things along. There were no drink check-ups, and the BYOB policy wasn’t mentioned when booking. A 10% service charge was added, though we were at least asked if we wanted to pay it—naturally, we declined.
A major hygiene concern was a staff member who used the toilet while wearing nitrile gloves, came out with them wet, and continued handling dishes without changing them.
The owner/manager seemed overwhelmed due to a lack of support. Better front-of-house staff are needed, as the poor service makes it hard to justify returning despite...
