I work in one of the best restaurant in Bath myself for over 5 years and I also have vistited the Petrus, Gordon Ramsey’s restaurant and that’s what I had in mind and I had no idea that this restaurant is operating this way... I don’t believe is correct but the customer should be given add list a menu set of what they want and the chef can also conpermise with samples just like other mission star restaurants. I was very disappointed for £400 meal that I was served and I wasn’t sure what I will have each times, all 5 course meals were way too rich with way too many ingredients, and I will accept that but the body can only handle certain ingredients and I think I had everything in that evening and I couldn’t sleep well at all, so as my partner. I don’t think people should pay deposit if it’s more than 4, as this isn’t a right business behaviour at all. People also should be given the option for tips and I don’t like demanding and be put on the recipe but then again that isn’t a huge issue, I only am frustrated with my evening meal really. Cooking is an art not add all colours into the page nothing was belending with the follow up, I guess what I am trying to say is that dishes didn’t make seance to my taste or anyone at my table, maybe it’s our expectations from other places. The place could do with a beautiful simplicity and good comfort food or manage the ingredients slightly as there was a lot of things that was so heavy and each dish was calculated wrong with the ingredients and the portions with their richness. The presentation was beautiful but again please chef take this as a friendly criticism not bad review, I’m sure you can do amazing dishes and be more fair towards your customers. I guess it’s our experience evening and maybe some days the food is better but it’s just too risky for us to return due to...
Read moreI visited menu Gordon Jones a little while ago and while the food and service were excellent I was concerned that they seemed to be taking absolutely no covid precautions. I recently made a booking with them and asked what their protocols were, hoping at least they’d be doing lateral flow tests on their employees since these are free, accessible and encouraged by the government. I explained that I’d be having contact with a vulnerable person so I wanted to establish if it would be safe to come. I received a rather passive aggressive reply saying they didn’t wear masks, social distance or test their employees, the only thing they did was keep a door open (in their extremely small, packed restaurant) and ask their employees to be sensible on their days off. I was told if I didn’t feel comfortable I shouldn’t come, as though it was unreasonable for me to expect that they might have some respect for the safety of their customers or employees. I appreciate they are not breaking the law but I would’ve expected they would have taken covid more seriously or at least not taken the attitude that I was being unreasonable to respectfully enquire about their...
Read moreThis was a gift for my wife and I. It was a great experience from being greeted by the chef at the door to being served by a kitchen chef with details of what you are about to eat. A small intimate venue the drinks are very reasonable which was a surprise but the meal was as much as we've ever spent on food. It was as good as food should be. And to be honest was 90% of what I would expect anywhere, short of McDonald's, but definitely in any self respecting restaurant. However you never get it and you have to pay this amount to have a decent evening. The staff are all friendly and can give you all the attention you need without ever being too attentive. I'd say it's about as perfect as you could want. It's a lot of money and I find it difficult to suggest it's good value unless your hobby is dining out. It was an amazing gift and exceptional because of that fact. As a monthly treat, I wish I...
