Iâm slightly puzzled by all the good reviews for this place. We moved to Bath just around the corner from this cafe a year ago and have been on a handful of occasions, on each occasion we have left disappointed but so badly wanted to like it and have a better experience that we kept returning. Each time we pop in for a takeaway coffee we have had to wait around 20 minutes, even on a quiet week day. The staff always seem to be completely clueless. If you sit down to dine in, you can expect to be sat extremely close to the table next to you, and you still have to go up and stand in the slow takeaway queue to order your food. On the last occasion my husband and I ordered avocado on toast which cost ÂŁ9 each, and consisted of one very small thin slice of bread with chunks of solid unripe avocado dolloped on top, which we waited a good 40 minutes for (after having already waited 20 minutes to order). Weâve now given up at this place as it seems to be getting worse not better. So disappointed as it has such potential and is in a...
Read moreI thought it was a bit pricey for Bath but when it arrived I had to revise that opinion pretty quickly. Egg cooked perfectly, mushrooms firm and tasty, real baked beans, fantastic wholegrain toast, dry cured bacon punching well above it's weight. Next the chips, which I would not normally expect in a full English, but I have to mention them as they must have been triple cooked and were the best I've had in months. And finally to the sausage, which is always a toughie to rate. This one scores a firm 10/10 because it's not one of the high fat ones you get even from the best butchers. The secret (I asked) is that it's Italian, beautifully lean and packed with flavour. I tasted hints of star anise but apparently it's fennel. Worth travelling a long way to eat here, and imho worthy of a Michelin star based on my visit....

The chicken wasnât fried but totally wet of all the oil they put in it. The beer was all watery. With the American dibble cheese burger where you can add bacon for 3 pound they will just give you ONE Strip of bacon. Thats ridicules! The prizing for what you get is totally not worth it!! They also choose their own tip when you pay by card so watch it. Totally...
