Wonderful staff, and lovely food. I'm all-dairy and beef free due to intolerances. It hasn't always been this way so I'm very familiar of the ease of eating out and choosing whatever I want on a menu, and the taste of everything dairy! The past 8 years (beef) and 4 years (dairy) have been difficult. Food is powerful, healing and all things great. Most restaurants have one or two (if you're lucky) vegan options for mains and only a fruit sorbet for dessert. It's sad and heartbreaking to have such limited options, I'm fed up of restaurants having the same vegan meal options, there's no vision or variety. BUT! Having a restaurant/cafe like Rooted is sublime. An ENTIRE MENU of choice with great tasting mains and delicious desserts is happiness - it's freedom. Vegetarian/vegan restaurants mean so much to me as there's no worry or apprehension of what's on the menu or possible dairy mistakes. We had the roast dinner - and although my mum's roast will always be the best - the feeling this Rooted Roast gave me was so great! I felt free and at ease knowing I could have it all without compromise or worry! It's been a very long time since I've eaten out and been able to share a cauli-cheese!!! I had the apple+pear crumble (yummy) and my partner had the walnut brownie (also yummy). The staff were super lovely and calm - another great sign this is the place to be as the restaurant was full and the staff were so chill and on-it. Overheard people ordering gluten free options too. All the dishes coming out of the kitchen looked very good. We will...
Read moreFor our first visit to Rooted we were lucky enough to secure a table at The Supper Club for The Taste of Mozambique. Rooted is a well established family run vegetarian/vegan cafe in Bath. The Supper Club has two sittings. We were at the first one which was well attended. Nick the owner and head chef produced an amazing meal. The Chamusas starters which were samosa with savoury potato, onion and minced tofu served with a spicy peanut sauce, were exceptional. They were perfected cooked and you could see the work that had gone into the filling. The main course was Matara Stew. This was a green stew of ground casara leaves, coconut milk and toasted cashew nuts. This was served with piri piri shrimp and coconut rice. The stew was perfectly cooked and had a nice spicy taste. The rice was also well cooked. The piri piri shrimp were wonderful. How Nick managed to get them to look and taste like shrimp was magical. The dessert was a polenta and cashew cake served with Swahili ginger milk tea cream. This was a nicely balanced end to the meal. The staff were super friendly and helpful. There was authentic African music playing throughout the meal. We both really enjoyed every aspect of this Supper Club. We have already put our names down for The Taste of Peru in August. Cannot recommend this venue...
Read moreI went today to rooted cafe and I remembered why I stop going in there the last 6 months .... The daughter of the owner ( seems a very nice man by the way.) is so rude an arrogant. It is a shame because the food is good. the waitres was so lovely and kind, but the manager has no manners, 6 months ago she was so rude to my partner just because he got something cold, but it is her attitude, the way she answers back.
Today I asked kindly to the waitress if i could change something in my dish, she asked in the kitchen and not problem at all.
When I when to pay to the "floor manager" as she said to me... or daughter of the owner was so rude and mean.....
Her ignorant attitude again, she has no idea about respect, she said to me: I will never approve this change on the food and I am the floor manager. ... ( Also it involve a drink that was include with the meal), now maybe this might not look rude but the way she expresses her self... and looks down at people.
she never has been pleasant anyway.
Never going in there again, I will go where people treat me with respect and value, at the end is my money.
She will ruin his dad's business with her poor service and lack of...
