We celebrated my mum's 70th birthday with lunch on Saturday 14th Dec and the experience was nothing short of exceptional. The food and service were outstanding from start to finish. This is the kind of restaurant where your glass is always full, and the warm, welcoming atmosphere makes you feel completely at ease.
As a party of five, including our youngest at just 9 years old, we were delighted to find the menu catered perfectly for everyone. I opted for the steak, which was cooked to perfection—absolutely delicious. The personal touch of the owner coming over to greet us and chat was a lovely gesture, adding to the friendly and inclusive vibe.
A highlight of the meal was dessert, when the owner surprised my mum with a homemade cake. Not only was it a thoughtful touch, but the cake itself was superb—clearly made with care and expertise. It’s those small details that set Woods restaurant apart from all others and made this occasion truly memorable.
The final bill came to £165, which I felt was excellent value for such high-quality food and service. I honestly can’t recommend this restaurant enough. If you’re considering a meal out, don’t hesitate—book a table and enjoy one of the best dining experiences Bath...
Read moreIf ever you go to Bath. Do book a meal at the independent Woods Restaurant. This has made out list of top restaurants in all the years we have been eating out both together and before we met. That now makes a list of only 3 restaurants where its just blown us away. I had the scallops with a lobster biste followed by lamb and seasonal veg My husband had the Hock Terrain followed by fillet steak with peppercorn sauce. Just looking at both our sauces I could see it was special! We ate extra slow in the hope our plate would never empty. Everything was just so succulent with intense but yet suttle flavours that made you chuckle and smile as the juices flowed. You know your food is exceptional when you smile and chuckle whilst trying to enjoy every moment. Cooked to an exception level of perfection. I loved the lamb and wow just wow. Veg was perfect too. I strongly recommend those that enjoy good produce and quality cooked food, seek out these independent places and stay clear of those brand name establishments. The staff were fabulous too. the ambience of the dining was relaxed but had that fine dining experience that allows you to enjoy your meal properly without...
Read moreWarning - I am reviewing Woods before I have been. Reason - I cannot wait to get back there! I know it’s going to be perfect, again. Delicious food, again. Great ambience, again. I love this place better than any other restaurant in the UK. My love affair started with Woods when I worked there over 30 years ago running the bar (mad dog incident :)), and it has continued with my infrequent visits over the years. If a friend is visiting Bath, I won’t let them not book Woods! So I know from their feedback that it is still all brilliant, and David and Claude amazing, all these years later. I feel completely comfortable reviewing this brilliant bit of France in Bath even though I have not been for a few years — and I rarely review anything. I’m going back in a few weeks and this will be the highlight of my trip to...
