Unfortunately I could not find a way to message Cafe Lucca privately (no email address on website, no private message on FB) so I have been forced to write a review. I came to the cafe for my birthday and we ordered a bottle of wine and a piece of cake, which we ordered straight from the counter and not from table service. It took about 15 minutes for this to come out which seemed quite long considering no/little preparation was involved and other waitresses came to ask if we had ordered in the mean time. The waitress put the wine on the table without offering to pour or a taste- again not great service but oh well. We poured our own full glass of wine and before taking a sip noticed black dirt swimming in the glasses. The waitress took away the full glasses. But maybe, we thought, she had not realised we'd ordered a bottle so after 10 minutes my partner went to the counter to point this out. He then witnessed the waitress FISHING OUT THE BLACK DIRT WITH A SPOON to then give back to us. He did not want to make a huge fuss as it was my birthday and asked for clean glasses and fresh wine. She then poured from another already open bottle two small glasses- even though by partner pointed out we didn't know how much we had poured to start with and it could have been more than a small glass. From working in the drinks industry I also believe it is very bad practice to expect someone to drink from two different bottles of wine. It also appeared that during all this a supervisor/manager had been aware of the situation and done nothing. After 35 minutes since we ordered we finally sat down with the wine from two different bottles (that my partner had to stand and wait for and carry back from the counter). The staff offered no apology and strangely did ask if everything was ok when they gave us the bill. On a side note- we were told there was "no wifi and yes the signal here is terrible" not great when you're a visitor trying to google how to get back to your hotel- sorry but it's 2019 and we didn't have our fold-out...

Warm and sunny space. Pet-friendly. Limited breakfast menu. Average service: where's the smile, the "good morning" and the menu of other products from the counter _only the breakfast menu was shown to us and no alternatives presented)? At 10:30am, the frangipane croissants (from the breakfast menu) were unavailable because they were still in the oven! My caffè latte was lukewarm. Oven-grilled eggs covered with too much cheese -- what do they have to do with a sweet waffle? The waffle was dry and hadn't been prepared fresh to order (it tasted rather industrial); it is bought in from a supplier and reheated, as confirmed by the manager. It's crusty because of the sugar that covers it; nothing soft and fluffy inside. Positives: good orange juice, grilled tomatoes and bacon; the manager kindly offered alternative drinks and dishes, but we declined; the unsavoury waffle was excluded from our bill (thanks for that). Conclusion: Very expensive for what it is (£6 + 10% service charge for a standard croissant with strawberry jam or marmalade is a rip off -- this isn't the Ritz). You might as well go to a nice hotel for a breakfast buffet. We...

My family and I had travelled to Bath on Monday for a day out. We usually go to this café and given the current circumstances thought it would be a good option given how spacious it is. The coffees and cakes are lovely however I was horrified, as was my mum that the lady who bought over our drinks did not have a mask on. I asked her why and she said she was exempt. This is unfortunate however that does not mean she is exempt from getting Covid or potentially spreading it. I would have thought her employers would therefore have had her working behind the counter rather than serving food and drinks. I know first hand how awful this disease is and there was no excuse for her to be serving customers as she was. At one point she was just stood in the middle of the floor and then next chatting to another customer who was sat down. She did not like that I asked her why she wasn't wearing a mask as I her whisper to a colleague (less than 2 metres apart) and had I known this prior to ordering I would never have come to this café. I frankly don't care if I made her feel uncomfortable as she made me feel very uncomfortable...

The only thing I enjoyed in bath was having myself a seat in this cafe.. It's cleanliness and arrangements made me calm Nd relaxed.. As a well demanding place, of course, it was busy and so we had to wait a bit to find out seats. But the staffs were really polite and had the real knowledge on their work hence ensuring us they're helping Nd sorting out a seat for us.. Never after had a delay in that busy peak time, a young lady took our order, she also explained the soups of the day. Starting with a glass of water, our lunch came to us, in fact, we could even see the chefs busy in their kitchen cooking, making it even more like a kind of live cooking.. The food was really delicious and well presented. We even took wine to make sure our lunch ended perfectly.. the staff also double checked we're alright Nd needs anything more . Really happy with their excellent service..

We stumbled upon this cafe for lunch and it did not disappoint!! Although the layout is strange (with fashion store in the same floor and tables scattered all around), they were accommodating big and small groups so that was nice. Our table was right next to where all the food was combing and felt very being on their way which could have been thought better. We got one of brioche melt and panini and they were both amazing!!! The coffee(capuchino) was quite weak and wish they showcased the coffee beans more. The staff was ok, I wouldn’t say anything special but would say they were more worried about the volume of people then making every guests feel welcomed. Having some more toilet for women could have been nicer as well since there was always a que.

Classy cafe ....cool and plenty of style. It's upmarket and as you would expect good service and good food is the order of the day. We stumbled on it only last year after struggling for years to find a decent place in Bath to have a relax in nice surrounds and have a snack or a glass of wine or just a coffee. It's not easy to find but head north in the city ! Bath is such a lovely place, lovely shops, beautiful stone buildings and lots of smart well dressed people. We always seem to stay in Bristol and visit by train.....but we will be staying in Bath next time. And of course, relishing another visit to Lucca's. It's not cheap but go on....treat yourself!
