Lava House — Restaurant in Belfast

I like this place but needs to think more about needs and offering for vegetarians. They have a Veggie breakfast but not great value and they don't really understand needs of veggies to ensure good protein level. The veggie breakfast has all the same ingredients of the meat breakfast fry except they replace 2sausages 2bacon 2eggs and blackpudding with... 1veggie sausage and only 1egg !! It is just over £1 cheaper Which means for that £1 meat eaters get an extra meat sausage and extra egg and 2bacon plus blackpudding !! So no real attempt to provide veggies with similar value. Also sadly their single veggie sausage is the type primarily made of vegetables without much of a Protein source. So veggies primarily get their Protein from 1egg and a small helping of beans. It's a shame as we like this place and we'd expect they'd get some better advice from vegetarians about making what they offer both better in ingredients and better in value. Hope they read reviews would be so easy to add some ingredients like hallumi or other protein sources and at least match the 2eggs that meat eaters get. Here's living in hope !! The food was good, shame as the service totally spoiled our visit. The staff was rude and I was charged for the wrong table, when I asked for the receipt the blonde girl said that she couldn't give me one as she had to accept it first. (I have worked in hospitality as a waitress and then manager for 16 years and never heard such a thing before) she then gave me the difference back in cash, visibly angry as it wasn't fault. I would advise your staff to maybe double check with customer before charging and perhaps not to take it on the customer for their mistakes as they can happen, but there's no need to be rude! When I went to the counter, she didn't even look at me and said: it's X amount in total. She had no idea where I was seating and what we eat. Worst service ever...

Worst fry I’ve ever had. Ordered on Uber today, which came to £14. When the food arrived, it was a small portion—not even worth a tenner, in my opinion. Like, seriously? £14 for that? Then I began eating. The black pudding tasted smoky and awful—so bad that my dog didn’t even want to eat it. The mushrooms tasted disgusting, same with the beans. Everything was just a letdown and not worth the money.

I suggest going to The Peppercorn or ordering from Peppercorn Café on the Woodstock Road if you want a fry, because their fry’s are amazing, unlike this. Don’t order a fry from here—the price is extortionate, and the food...
