Plan to go here every six weeks. Absolutely unreal food and great value, great staff, great atmosphere. Welcome addition to Belfast. Having enjoyed the Childhood Memories, and Catalan menu (twice), the Thai menu was absolutely faultless as well, with one of the greatest deserts IV ever had. Another excellent meal in what quickly has become Belfast's best restaurant by some distance. * Update. Visited on a Tuesday evening for the Mexican menu. Restaurant still buzzing despite the rest of town being fairly quiet. Another fantastic menu, with the mackerel dish reminding me of the flavours of a small Mexican restaurant I visited some time ago in California. Perfectly cooked pork belly with corn more intensely flavoured than I thought possible for corn. An amazing cheese dish with salsa Verde and green pesto and another delicious dessert course with the best banana ice cream IV ever had. Another mention for the excellent staff but Stephen in particular, a young fella who took time out to speak with us, friendly, enthusiastic about the menu, knowledgeable about food and very personable. Look forward to the next menu. New York menu... The burger first course not my favourite but waow, everything else continued to be special. The food here really is unbelievable, cannot beat the taste, value, and service. Plate lickingly delicious every single time. Anyone not eating here is missing out.

Italian dinner - Amalfi Coast • Parmesan foam polenta, pickled chanterelle mushrooms, artichokes, strip of pork fat • Buratta w/ lemon salt and chilli flakes, tomato foam, tomato twill, skinless heirloom tomatoes, green olive puree w/ chilli powder, salsa verde dressing • Fresh spaghetti w/ squid ink, seafood foam w/ coconut cream, concentrated seafood stock, sliced chillis, minced garlic and shallots, baby mussels and clams, samphire • Crispy skin seabass fillet w/ black olive tapernade, pickled roasted fennel and pickled courgette, roasted pepper, basil puree, basil dressing • Sous vide pork fillet w/ nduja jus, kale (underneath pork fillet), caramelised smoked onions, butternut squash puree, fried pork belly w/ serrano, burnt onion jus, pumpkin seed pesto and pickled carrot, basil dressing • Lemon yogurt gelato, torched meringue, lermon aero biscuit, ground almond powder, whic chocolate, lemon jelly, sweet lemon curd, almond base • Deep fried breaded kuhli and whitebait w/ orange saffron emulsion, foccacia w/ balsamic vinegar and olive oil Please pardon me if I got the ingredients wrong! 6 course for £32 is a very good deal particularly with the range of proteins and different flavour profiles. My favourite was the squid ink spaghetti with phenomenal flavourful broths!

Six by Nico is chain of restaurants which have locations across the UK and Ireland. I have tried their food in London and was very interested to try out the Belfast branch. It was just as delightful! They introduce the concept of fine dining in a safe, approachable and afforable way. For those that love fine dining already there is still lots to be pleased with. I would advise to book in advance as it can be quite busy! We had the 'Cooking Hollywood' menu on our visit, in the vegan variation so just make sure to let them know when booking. The dishes were delicious with a special shout out to the Artichoke and Turnip, proves they can make anything shine and ended up my favourite dish! I thought that the Vegan alternative of 'Bubba Gump "Shrimp"' was weak in my opinion as the Malaysian curry was removed and this was a shame as every other dish was fantastic. Overall, Beth served us brilliantly and was super attentive. The food was delicious and beautifully presented, as well as all of this I felt the meal was very well priced. Six by Nico is absolutely worth visiting even if the thoughts of 'fine dining' is off putting. Their menus will put you at ease and you may even get into the swing of it! 😊

Space' for improvement with a 'black-hole' for service

We were there for the 'space' experience meal with family. We were greeted poorly at entry, not even a cursory 'your waiter will be with you shortly'. Our waiter arrived and made a weird comment 'I will try to be your main waiter tonight. What did that even mean? He asked if we wanted water, we said yes and he brought it over. One of our party asked if she could have a ginger beer, at which point he asked if we wanted to see the drinks menu. We said no but had we not asked for the ginger beer that would not have been offered. There were the taste cards on our table. After the arrival of the ginger beer we waited 40 minutes for our first course to arrive, on arrival we asked if we could have the head phones and masks as we knew we should have them. The waiter came back with 5 sets of headphones and 3 eye masks saying there were no more masks. We received no explanation about the experience, cards etc. There were no pens to write on the cards either. The masks were used, one had makeup on it so really not hygienic. At the end of the course the waiter did ask if we knew what we were eating, and after we guessed he told us what it all was but not confidently. The second and third course came quite quickly and after each we had the same conversation with the waiter about what was on the plate. One of the plates at course 3 was incomplete and had to be returned. We then had a 40 minute wait until the next course, our waiter started to avoid our table and we had to ask another one, who we thought was a manager or at least more senior than our waiter, where our food was. We were told it was coming soon, but no apology in fact she was quite short with us. We had now been at our table for 2.5hrs and only had 3 of our 6 courses. We had to ask for more water, at no point did anyone check if we wanted more drinks. The next 3 courses then arrived in quick succession after each other taking only 25 minutes. At no point did anyone speak to us about how poor the service was. Our waiter had no clue was course 4 and 5 were and had to check on the menu they had. Course 5 was very tough steak/beef and not warm. He said the 6th course had strawberry in it but 2 of our party didn't think they had strawberry so maybe it was missing. We then heard a male manager tell our waiter to get our bill, instead he came over and asked if we wanted anything else and we asked for the bill. When it came they had deducted £40 for the poor experience/ delays but again no explanation, no apology and a poor show by the managers who appeared to completely throw our waiter under the bus. Don't get me wrong our waiter was really bad but the managers completely ignored the situation choosing to avoid speaking to us rather than taking control of the situation and owning...

Extremely disappointing experience. My partner and I were taking friends out to celebrate their engagement, as noted on my booking. Upon arrival, the member of staff who greeted us blurted out ‘ok so you’re celebrating an engagement? Well we have ran out of champagne but will see what we can do’. 1) A trained hospitality worker should know to discuss such things discreetly and not at full volume incase the celebrated couple didn’t know I’d tried to arrange this (which they didn’t) + 2) we were never offered an alternative while we were here, which is pretty shocking from a restaurant of such ‘standard’. When we were seated , we overheard the couple next to us complaining about their food and being offered complimentary drinks. Several times we had to flag staff, asking for water glasses, cutlery which was missing and to complain about the large piece of pure fat I had been served as the pork belly. A very unapologetic member of staff switched this for a proper piece of meat and we went on with our night. Come to the dessert and there is a pretty LARGE STRIP OF RUBBER in the middle of mine which I discovered while chewing it. At this point you can understand how frustrated we were. The same previous, very unapologetic member of staff took this back and we spoke to a higher member of the team who told us ‘this doesn’t usually happen’ and that it must have been fault of the company they buy their desserts from and offered us a free tea or coffee. He must have seen how insulted and taken aback we were by this pathetic compensation and finally offered a fee off the bill, still including a service charge. By this point we had honestly had enough, knew that we clearly weren’t being taking very seriously probably because we are a group in our early 20’s and if we had been an older couple things would have been very different (eg the couple who complained when we arrived) and we paid and left, however I am so disappointed that our night out to celebrate a special occasion was tainted this way. At the end of that day, the prices here do not nearly match the quality of service or food , which is a shame as I had a positive experience a year ago but it is obvious the standard has...

We were a table of 5 doing the Interstellar: Trust. There is no menu and you eat your 6 courses blind folded, with headphones playing music to match the theme of what you're eating.

Problems: Service of 6 courses took over three hours.

No one explained the process of the menu or what to do, we had to read online whilst waiting for our foods.

The menu we were provided was blank, with room to complete what we believe the courses were, but we were not given a pen or pencil. We saw other tables were provided pencils.

We were provided 3 blindfolds between 5 of us and told there were no more available. We were provided 2 more after the 2nd course.

Our server was unable to explain what it was we were eating for certain courses so we were left guessing.

When complaining to the managers about the wait, there was no apology or explanation. They were quite blunt and borderline aggressive. This manager then avoided us for the rest of the evening.

One of the vegetarian courses was served missing components which we had to send back to the kitchen to be completed.

Course 2 vegetarian option was a fried egg, the meat option was beef raviolo.

Course 4 meat option was squid, the vegetarian menu was the same meal without the squid, so no alternative.

Course 5 was cold, but the plates were hot. We assume this because they were left on the pass for a long period of time.

Course 5 vegetarian replacement for the flat iron steak was a piece of baked celeriac smaller than the steak.

Only the waiter had the courage to apologise for the wait. We watched the manager process the cheque and hide behind the perspex glass until we left to try and avoid our complaints for the terrible service.

They comped £40 of a £175 bill, no explanation of why or any attempt by the front of house management to apologise.

Pros: The other courses were quite nice and the dessert was delicious.

We have been twice previously as a pair and encouraged others to join us this time, but we won't be returning. Hopefully it was just our table, but we did see others being turned away at the door because their tables weren't ready and others requesting on when their food...
