Enjoyed the atmosphere yesterday 7/04/25 and was a fantastic end to the day, two bartenders and the female bouncer were brilliant and extremely warm and inviting, including the bar supervisor or manager who was on that night, came again the next night and had a drink after a concert, we decided to order to Prosecco snipes to take home , asked for unopened and a customer on the same of the bar as us grabbed one snipe and opened it and when we protested he claimed he was the bar manager and escorted us out violently making comments telling us “to go back to the south” as we had told them we were from Dublin. Extremely disgusted after a previous lovely experience as obviously the “bar manager” had tried to be funny and open the snipe but after our protest, tried to flip the situation back on us. He was obviously embarrassed and tried then to make a fool out of us by kicking us out. Would advise against visiting if from anywhere except Belfast. I am expecting a reply from said “bar manger” explaining the situation as I feel this honestly is not...
Read moreThis is a pub, beer and whiskey, cocktails if you like, a busy bar, and lots of joyfulness. Filled with tourists, primarily from South of Ireland, we enjoyed grabbing a pint. We befriended a local counselor who shared stories of old Belfast and helped us navigate the wide selection of Irish whiskies. One plus is that you can go out into the alley way to have a less noisy environment and still enjoy your draught. Service was prompt, friendly, and gracious about my husband's suggestion to ignorantly order something that should not be ordered in any place in the 32 counties. The walls were adorned with the evidenced of the likely millions of visitors who have been through the doors of this famous pub. This is a must-do once, but not an always do for me. Loved the quaint street that greeted us and the people we were able to get into a good time with...
Read moreI was in a party of 12 (6 couples). Despite being English, we were made to feel very welcome wherever we went during our stay in Belfast. I only mention this because of the stories that circulate about English not being welcome. This pub was awesome, everything I imagined a great Irish bar would be like. Love the setting and the atmosphere. We arrived at 5pm and were lucky to get two tables together…. We drank a lot and enjoyed the various musicians who strummed away to entertain us all night. We left about 1am, all very merry having spent an amazing night in an equally amazing pub.
Tip… get there early, find a table and stay put. The bars are busy on a Saturday and once you find a good spot, keep it. We drank, sang along and danced the night away. A good mixture of ages and people from all over.
We will remember this night for a long time to come,...
