2Taps is winebar located in Belfast's Cathedral quarter. They have a heated terrace which was a really good experience as you feel outdoors whilst also having lots of toasty heaters. I wanted to try 2taps as I had seen they have added a number of vegan/plant-based tapas to their menu. We started with the bread board which I would definitely advise as it can easily suit 4/6 people and comes with delicious trimmings. We tried the Salt Baked Beetroot which was an interesting option on the menu but absolutely beautiful. Next we tried the char-grilled tenderstem. The chimichurri worked really well and the tenderstem was perfectly cooked, lovely smokey flavour as well. Then we had the padron peppers, which were lovely. Nice smokey flavour cut nicely with the ajo blanco, we appreciated the fresh sauce! Next, our favourite - the grilled hispi cabbage! This was the absolute star of the show. Romesco/aioli/almond really lifted the crunch of the cabbage to a nice level. I think this would be advisable for any foodies, absolutely delicious. Lastly we had the patatas bravas which were crunchy with a vegan sauce which is much appreciated! Once we finished our tapas, we had some cocktails. We found them inventive and different, with distinct NI brands of alcohol being used. Overall the pictures speak for themselves, the food was perfect. I loved that they let the vegetables be the main component of the dish, as many hide behind 'Beyond Meat' etc. Really well done and could not rate it any higher! Also important to note the service was excellent throughout, great advice and speedy delivery. Also the music playlist was fantastic for a Saturday night, I can't wait to...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I dined here on a Saturday evening in August. We had heard great things so were apprehensive of how our dinner would go. From the second we walked in we were more than impressed, the host was beaming before we even got to her stand and seemed delighted to have us there. She brought us to the front indoor dining area and offered two different tables to choose from, we chose one with a booth seat and she kindly complimented my dress and wished us a lovely meal. We browsed the menu and were swiftly greeted by Carrington who immediately ensured us of how great of a night we had in store. He recommended drinks and was incredibly friendly. When he returned with our drinks he helped us to decide on our food. I must add that Carrington was frequently doing rounds of the section and always looked out for a customer who needed help- which was incredibly helpful and efficient. When the food arrived we were surprised as it took only 5-15 minutes depending on the dish. We enjoyed duck, prawns, squid, patatas bravas, olives, Parmesan chips, brocolli and chorizo- we could barely finish it. I also tried the sangria which was delicious, the best I’ve had in Belfast. Additionally I ordered the honeycomb dessert cocktail and we got churros. We were enjoying the drinks and atmosphere so much that Carrington told us we could stay at our table till they closed and we did exactly that. Relaxing, eating and having drinks for around hours. It was delightful. Overall the service was unbelievable, the food was delicious and the vibes were relaxing but bustling on a Saturday night. We most certainly...
Read moreTerrible experience. We came for lunch after reading the reviews. The place was busy. We asked for a table outside. 3 of us , and two tables for two were empty in the corner. I asked could we sit there and was told no they were for two people only. We couldnt sit side by side. So we ended up under a dark shaded area and watched the two tables in the sun remain empty the whole time ... it would have been funny if it was the only issue. The same person brought us the menu and told us about the "Cocktails" As i dont drink cocktails and both my friends were driving i just ordered wine. This was obviously Not what was expected, it was clear we hadnt conformed to the waitresses demands! We ordered our food and soft drinks and started our lunch. Before we finished we were presented with the bill and asked "cash or card" As we were still eating we were taken aback. We hadnt asked for the bill and thought it was a mistake. We were then told people who booked tables had arrived early. Two people were standing waiting with six tables empty. The area had between 6 and 8 tables empty the whole time we were there. Another waitress was sent over to get payment, We thanked her for bringing our food and expressed our feelings she appologised and left looking really embarrassed. We were rushed out leaving food and drink! We wont be back. It was a lunch ruined by an officious waitress. If you are not going to order the "Cocktail specials" DONT GO. We arrived just after 2 oclock and left not long after three, so i dont think we could be accused...
