The Raj is a delightful Indian restaurant that takes diners on an authentic culinary adventure through the flavors of India. During my recent visit, I had the pleasure of savoring their chicken korma, and I must say it was truly delicious. While the food deserves high praise, there were a few aspects that left room for improvement.
Let's start with the highlight of my meal—the chicken korma. The dish was a symphony of flavors, combining tender chicken pieces with a rich and creamy sauce that was perfectly seasoned. The aromatic spices danced on my palate, creating a harmony of taste that delighted my senses. Paired with fragrant rice, the combination was truly satisfying and left me craving for more.
The Raj excels in providing a diverse menu with a wide range of Indian culinary delights. From traditional curries to tandoori specialties, there is something to suit every palate. The attentive and friendly staff added to the overall dining experience, ensuring that my needs were met and making me feel welcome throughout my visit.
However, one aspect that slightly detracted from the overall experience was the tired decor of the restaurant. While the focus should primarily be on the food, the ambiance plays a significant role in creating a memorable dining experience. The Raj's decor felt a bit dated and in need of some refreshing. With a few updates, such as fresh paint or updated furnishings, the restaurant could truly elevate the dining atmosphere to match the excellence of its culinary offerings.
Nonetheless, it is important to note that the quality of the food at The Raj overshadows any concerns regarding the decor. The flavors and authenticity of their dishes transport diners to the vibrant streets of India, and the warm hospitality adds a personal touch to the...
Read moreI just placed an order and the person on the phone was so so rude and arrogant. I placed an order for butter chicken which normally comes with a side dish... he didn't even ask me what side dish I wanted and just confirmed pulao rice with it and just cut the phone. I called again as I wanted roti or naan instead of rice which he didn't even ask before and to my surprise he just bluntly told me that he doesn't have time to talk to me and would not change my order as per my choice. Hence, I told him to cancel my order before which he cut the phone again. So I called back and he said that he would cancel the order and I should not waste his time... come on Dude... I was not buying something for free. I was going to pay you the price you ask for... this is not how you treat customers. Boo hoo... you lost one regular customer... I'm staying away from such arrogant restaurant staff for future. Good luck with your business with...
Read moreI visited with work colleagues and thought this place was pretty good. Unfortunately the popps weren't gluten free so I couldn't have those, so had chicken tikka for a starter instead. It was tasty and just the right size, not dry at all.
I had lamb Rogan for main and I was surprised when the dish arrived. I'm used to a non-creamy curry with lots of tomato with a medium heat. This was creamy - like a Korma! Anyway I tucked in and was pleasantly surprised. It wasn't at all spicy but was flavoursome and filling. The lamb was tender and there was plenty of it.
If you're looking for a 'traditional' lamb Rogan you might be disappointed (they will make a dish for you if it's not on the menu).
We had a bottle of Shiraz which wasn't as smooth as I'd hoped, so wouldn't buy that particular bottle again. Overall though it was good and I'd...
