Went here on Saturday the 24th of July, it was my hen weekend so they were rang ahead for a 2 tables for 10 people and a deposit was paid. After walking ages to this place we walked to the gate and waited for the girl to come down, it was 12 noon and they only opened at 12 and our table was booked at 12, she walked down and looked at us, we were dressed in 80s clothing tutu and all, so she went back rang someone on the phone think he was the manager, anyway came back and told us that we were supposed to tell them we were a hen as they don't allow fancy dress, then told us there staff got covid so they were short staffed, even doh 4 staff were walking around doing nothing inside, if you have an outbreak the establishment is the one that should ring up it's customers and explain before they show up and get discriminated for dressing up we could have easily taken the tutus off and would have been shorts or leggings and a top under but no, they made up there mind when they saw us, also rang the manager as my sister was the one that booked and paid the deposit,so we wanted a refund and she said she wasn't able to that the manager would be back in 20 minutes, we went away to a different place glad of it, but my sister then contacted the place over an hour later and the manager still hadn't even come back and still couldn't do a refund absolutely...

I wouldn’t recommend this pub. I thought they are racist- the bartender doesn’t respect their guest, at least myself. I order my 1st drink and came to the 1st floor(all good), then one staff came to told me the 1st should be closed whole day on Saturday, so I went downstairs to confirm with the bartender, he told me-yes, I didn’t see you go upstairs, no apologies and ignored anything I said , just went away, rough, horrible. Don’t come to this pub. The man said - I don’t care your comments, so it’s not good you plan to come-especially you are not white people. He is so rough!! If you come, you won’t get anything except disappointing and bias. So many good bar/pub in Belfast, I think it’s not necessary come here for unhappiness. I should say- one day you are a loser, perhaps it’s lifelong for you(the...

Had 'lunch' at the Jailhouse today and it was not good. Firstly service was very slow, staff were lovely but it took forever to get anything even drinks. The food was well below the standard I would expect, frozen chips that has a funny taste cheap cocktail sausages that were meant to be wrapped in bacon but apparently they'd run out and flavourless mussels that were tiny. I didn't personally have mussels but three of our party did and one was very unimpressed, his arrived about 30 minutes after the rest of the food even though we said to staff we were waiting for them. He did get a free drink to make up for delay.

I definitely won't be back for anything more than a drink and...

Called in for lunch and weren't disappointed. My wife had the Chicken Burger and I had the Fish & Chips. I think you can always tell how good a place is by the fish and chips and it was superb. The mushy peas were done with spring onions which was a nice take on the usual. We just had cappuccinos to warm ourselves up. I would review the idea of putting a paper sheet under the food. It adds nothing to the experience because you are constantly trying to avoid eating it with each mouthful. Staff were really friendly. Heartily recommended.

I'm always surprised when I come here that it isn't busier. I remember it in its original form, this is a total renovation. Actually uses the outside area, one of the Historic Entries, very well. The boss liked the gin list, and I really enjoyed a couple of pints of Staropramen. Nice comfortable surroundings. If you are looking for a quick quiet pint this is the place. The only drawback is the three flights of stairs up to the men's toilets!

The Jailhouse has become my No1 go-to in Belfast for a relaxing pint, sometimes food(which is excellent) and most of all a relaxing atmosphere with friendly staff. I nearly always sit outside and enjoy the ambience whilst watching people go by up & down Joy's entry. Adjoining Henry's is another perfect option for drinks & same high quality food, & often live entertainment later at weekends. LOVE it..and so does my son as photo shows👌
