I was here on Saturday 16th March 2024 with seven pals during a visit to Belfast. We watched the 6 Nations Rugby at Whites after I’d pre-booked a table there. The place was jumping, busy and had a great atmosphere. The Guinness was fantastic as was the staff. Especially accommodating were the lady with the green hair (sorry, forgot your name!) who dealt with the food side of things, and also the chef who accommodated mine and My friends somewhat unusual dietary requests. We both requested the bacon cheeseburger but with no bun and with the chips and onion rings replaced with poached eggs. Even though the place was busy, the lady with the green hair was happy to ask the chef if this request could be accommodated. She came back to me and said the chef could fulfil this request. Having worked in the hospitality industry previously, I was all the more appreciative of the flexibility shown by the kitchen staff. In all, seven out of the eight of us had something to eat. The bill came to £115 which I thought represented good value for the amount of food and the quality of the food we received. To summarise, I would highly recommend a visit to Whites Tavern if you ever find yourself in Belfast. Excellent food, staff, and atmosphere.

Fantastic night for my sisters 40th Birthday on Sunday 15th September. Venue excellent. Staff amazing and extremely helpful. Even helping us decorate. A poem for you all! Whites Tavern Looking for a pub in Belfast Pick the oldest one Established 1630 You know it will be fun A 17th Century Tavern May not seem to be the place Where life, love and laughter Are met with friendly face. From the moment you walk in You are met by friendly staff They help in every way they can And adept at pulling draught! If its a party you are having Or simply a night out You can't go wrong in trying Whites Tavern that's no doubt! My night was awe inspiring A family gathering round To celebrate a Birthday I'm glad we chose the town. Were're very glad we chose the Tavern Very happy with that place We will be back in the future Because we think this place is Ace. Go Whites Tavern. Thanks to Oliver our lovely barman and manager Ryan your still not scarey. Love to you all. Elaine McGreevy

STOP! This is it! If you'd never been to an Irish pub before, and you shut your eyes and imagined it, this is what you'd see! Dating from 1630, and the oldest tavern in Belfast, the entrance at the side down an alleyway opens into a long narrow room, darkened with years of log fire smoke, a ceiling of oak beams, tables and chairs in booths, and an unusual bar that was only waist high at the most with an ice sink sunk into it, and which looked like it could have been hand-hewn by Noah! The bar man came over and explained the daily specials, but tempting though they were, we held out for the dish we had come in for - Irish stew! We were rewarded with a big bowl of steaming beef stew and a plate of fabulous wheaten bread, dark like Guinness, crumbly and with a hint of sweetness, a terrific side to the stew! What a wonderful experience!

Whites tavern is a great pub atm. The new additions over the years make this one of the best bars in Belfast. I've been at this bar so many times when it was just the little cosy Irish bar with a lit fire for the past 18 years I've been living in Belfast.

So why am I giving it 1 star.

My friends and I came here on St Patrick's day 2024. We started at 12 pm and were having a great time. The place was rammed with a great atmosphere. We were super fortunate to find 4 seats on a table with 7 other people sitting on the big table by the big screen. Next to impossible to achieve on a day like that. Especially since we were right beside the big screen for the Liverpool v Man Utd FA cup quarter final.

Kick off was 5 mins away and next thing we know a member of bar staff came over to everyone on the table saying that we all have to leave the table as it is reserved. Everyone was furious. There was never any reserved sign on the table all day and they don't take reservations on St paddy's day as it's rammed. We complained and said we aren't moving you can't do that, we've been in this bar for 4 hours etc. The staff told us it's the owners of the bar, they have just booked it and we have to leave. A bouncer then came over and told us we have to leave the owners have booked it and the young, I belive son l, was standing with a grumpy face and also telling us "we've booked this table, it's ours" etc.

So here I am leaving a 1 star to the owners of this bar, not the bar, not the staff or the bouncers. You can't treat customers like that, especially on a day like St Patrick's Day. I felt sorry for the owners son's friends who were genuinely telling us sorry for this, but not him. He just had this grumpy face looking at us like how dare we refuse to leave his table. Apparently it's not the first time this has happened were the 'owners' out of the blue book a table and everyone has to leave it. But on St paddy's day!...

I was here last week, our first stop in Ireland for a bite after arriving a few hours earlier from Dublin. I don’t regularly give harsh reviews but in this instance I really didnt have a good experience. Dont get me wrong, bar staff were lovely despite being understaffed causing severe delays & long queues at the bar. So bad that the bar was covered in half empty mixers & empty glasses no one was cleaning up so a five minute cocktail was taking 10-15 minutes at a time. When I went, there was a massive storm suddenly & the rain poured through from the ceiling that staff raced around trying to get buckets, bins, etc. to stop the floors from continuing to flood. Despite all that, wasn’t the worst experience as they could only do so much. The part that ruined it was the girl behind the register of the food bar. She sat on the counter on her phone constantly (again, raining so if you’re not doing anything, help the other staff if you can) & only looked up to get down when I spoke up. She appeared annoyed the whole time while taking my order. She got our order wrong for two things & when I came up to the bar to ask (again on her phone), I was met with bad attitude then she said she’d have to put it through again as she didn’t charge me for it, saying I’d said I want the two missing things (not the case as I’d asked for it…) I said it was fine & not to worry about it as we’d make do with what came out so all good & nevermind. I got a big eye roll & she walked away from me muttering under her breath, extremely rude. If she repeated the orders to ensure they were right & not concentrating on her phone then we likely wouldn’t of had an issue. I would’ve rated this place a 4 even with the first mentioned issues, if it wasn’t for her. Honestly just seems like she’d rather be anywhere else & I wouldn’t recommend the place if she...
