7 Bai Chotpoti — Restaurant in Birmingham

It's okay but nothing to write home about. It's definitely over hyped; the street food was sub par. The Fushka is nice, I liked it but it was missing something that I couldn't put my finger on but I recommend it nonetheless. The Dali Bora and the Kala Chana was exactly how I would make it at home, very nicely done. The "Chotpoti" was completely alien to me. the sauce was very watery and it was missing key ingredients. It was nothing like the Chotpoti you get back home in Bangladesh, I was extremely disappointed by it. I poured in the dali bora and the kala chaana just to give it some texture. Chotpoti is supposed to have a blend of textures and flavours but the one here didn't have it, which is ironic as that is the name of the shop lol The worst culprit was the samosa chaat. I have never been served such an abomination in my entire life. Definitely avoid the somosa chaat. In terms of service though, the ladies were lovely. The lady that served me was super nice and very friendly. I found her very kind and if I do return again I hope to be served by her. Top marks for the service...

Don't trust the bad reviews, the food is great! - you just need to order something simple like plain rice and meat/chicken curry, can't go wrong, especially if you like Asian food and if you're Bengali you should try it. The all day special comes with well cooked rice, a chosen curry and incredible dhal and potato bhorta (with lime and chillis on the side). We tried the fish, meat and chicken which were all good as well as a spinach curry which they offered as it was freshly cooked.
