HORRIBLE Went to try out their £10 buffet. Sign says 22 dishes plus MORE inside. Let me tell you the truth - there's only about 15 dishes inside and that's even a stretch since I'm including a small plate of salad and chillies!
Additional items, such as a different chicken curry, fries or some children's menu dish is an additional cost. Why claim you'll have additional items when they aren't included on the menu? You're either a buffet or not! Drinks are also not included! They tried to get me to pay just for tap water! Tap water is free everywhere in the UK!
Food is NOT fresh. Food seems to be made once and then just reheated and topped up. Even rice didn't seem well cooked.
If coming with family or women only party, expect to be seated right at the front of the restaurant right at the window where the whole street can see you. There is no place for prams as its so narrow. If there is another place for families to seat I don't know about it since I was told with my party to sit right at the front despite complaining this wasn't suitable for us. The table is so large and the seats can barely be pulled out to sit comfortably in the tiny room!
The curries have at least 3 inches of oil sitting on top of the curry! How long have they been sitting out there to do that? If you have dined here and not had food illness - it's a miracle!
Starters are dried out shish kebab, chicken leg (undercooked and very mild), and greasy samosas. The rest are bhunas (no balti or khrahi curry on the buffet) and the desert is just halwa.
It's very bad. I didn't expect much for £10 but I at least expected some standards! Basic home-style Bangladeshi dishes like curries aren't hard to make!
Also, no matter how many staff you ask, none will provide a clear answer - do they open at 1? 12? 2? Apparently the manager (if he's to be trusted, or what's more believable...he's just a random worker) says its daily from 2pm and they apparently close at midnight. That late closing hour just tells you how long that food will be sitting out for.
Very bad experience with majority of the building being taken up by men, I won't complain about customers, everyone has their rights. But to be so loud and keep staring towards the front where women are forced to sit!? They were just sitting around for ages drinking tea, I don't even know if they were customers or staff!
Not happy about this, and I hate giving bad reviews on local businesses. But there was nothing enjoyable about my experience. Bad staff, bad...
Read moreAs me and my family walk in streets of small heath, we see a huge poster with the eye catching text saying “22 different things to choose from, £10 a person”. So all of our natural instinct was to walk in, although some of us had a bad feeling from it due to the hygiene level of it being 3. The waiter, cashier or whatever he was - will be known as waiter - greeted us and gave us all a warm welcome so the place was customer friendly but was the food? At this moment we would find out. Turns out that the poster didn’t exactly have the most truthful words and there was only 8 different options of food and some salads. So I collected rice, keema (mince meat curry), seekh kebab, tandoori chicken, samosa and chicken tikka. They were not freshly made and was only being reheated by a tiny candle. As I took a bite in the seekh kebab, it tasted indescribable but not in a good way, I couldn’t even tell if it was real meat. The keema had tasted nice but would it pay off for how bad the other foods were? The tandoori chicken and chicken tikka had both felt like chewing onto plastic and was burnt. the samosa tasted so horrible I spat it out which I was disappointed with because i thought it would be my only escape to the horrible taste my buds had to experience. The drinks and water cost £1 which is a bummer so if you for some reason come here get your own drinks. the bathroom smelt weird, not like poo or urine but had a weird smell. When I went in the pipes of the toilet had leaked urine and there’s a big box and ladder laying around in the bathroom. A huge notice that it is a cash only place. Then again I feel bad for the waiter because I realise his kid (a toddler) and wife live in the place so it’s probably their way of making money to provide for them so I will put some sympathy and make it 2 stars. So overall I would not recommend coming if you seeking a cheap and good buffet but do not hesitate if you want to support that...
Read moreTo say this is massive disappointment is an understatement - when the tarka daal is sent out with a burnt tarka and the owner / waiter / chef all rolled into one doesn't acknowledge the problem (and even refuses to taste it himself) then that really should tell you all you need to know...
This is a famous curry house with taxi drivers who can't talk highly enough of the lamb bhuna - but we were left perplexed because what is served is your standard curry house lamb in base gravy (and not a great one at that), not an actual bhuna. Similarly the chicken saag was met poorly, too.
Mixed grill the same as any other place on the Coventry Road - tough as leather boots. The paratha were not flaky and crispy as they should be, basically a roti given the once over with some fat on the pan.
I repeat:...
