Desi Khana — Restaurant in Birmingham

This is what happened. Around 5 I placed an order via uber eats from The Hajee Desi Khana. A few minutes later I phoned to make a change to the order and was told their uber eats was down and I was to contact uber eats for a refund. Uber eats don't have a phone contact so I left a message on the app. To my surprise I kept getting notifications that my order is being prepared. I phoned the restaurant to tell them this and they confirmed their uber eats was down and they have not received any order from me. I went back on the app and messaged them again. After about 5.40pm I kept getting notifications that my food delivery was on its way. I called the restaurant again and they said it's not so because their uber eats is down and they have no uber eats orders from me. However this kept happening and I kept replying to the app that no delivery has been made. At 3 mins to 8 I get a notification asking me to enjoy the food delivery. There was no delivery. I wrote the details on their app again. I called the restaurant to be told they are busy and to call back in half an hour, when I called them they were too busy and took my number to call back. I am gonna leave it at that. I will speak to my bank in the morning to get my money refunded back to my account and I will never use uber eats again and never order anything from The Hajee Desi Khana Restaurant as both Uber Eats and The Hajees Desi Khana have given me the run around as I have been going in circles trying to sort out their mess since 5pm and...

It's quite a good range of taste for non veg lovers and have must visit places to go.

Ambiance - quite decent vibes of table sofa dabha concept and counter can be seen for normal cooking and have space for huge crowds as first floor and ground floor.

Food tastes - very much recommended for non-veg lover , like Chicken or ghost kadhi they will serve you in live long kadhi which gives another vibes of live cooking of food. Good Asian masala taste which gives another flavor. Must try cheese naan which is very good and desi tea real milk flavor and hard to find such tea in nearby locations.

Veg - not much by aloo paratha was too good. Usually they won't service this regularly but on ramzon it's regular or you can request for it.

Price - very reasonable price for such good taste, moderate range and helpful for everyone.

Booking - during Ramadan you can have pre-booing or regular you can the space

Time - it's very late opening too , so good to have such food in late night too. It's open till 04:00 AM for driver and other its good

Location - it's a prime location near the city center and it's good to have a nearby airport.

Parking - you can use roadside parking which you need to find the space for parking l.

Overall - Good to have late dinner or asian...

This was my first and definitely last time visiting Desi Khana. From the start, the experience was frustrating. I had to repeat my order three times because the person taking it clearly didn’t understand me, and eventually someone else had to step in.

I ordered the Small Mix Grill, which is supposed to include: 2 chops, 6 wings, masala fish, 2 chicken tikka, and 2 sheekh kebabs — plus free fries. What I received was completely different. There were no fish or wings at all, and instead I got extra chicken masala and 2 sheekh kebabs, with no explanation. Apparently they were out of stock, but no one told me — and I was still charged full price. On top of that, I didn’t even get the free fries that are advertised with the meal.

Even more frustrating — someone with the same order sitting across from me did get salad, while I didn’t. No consistency, no care.

To make things worse, one of the burger meals I ordered came with a piece of blue plastic embedded in the burger bun — see attached photo. Completely unacceptable and raises serious concerns about hygiene and food safety.

Overall, poor service, lack of communication, wrong order, missing items, and a foreign object in the food. Would...
