This place has got to be one of the best places to eat in Birmingham for an all round taste, quality, service and price. Ordered the lamb chops for starters, 3 Chappal Kebabs with a large naan for mains and a diet coke. It came with complimentary salad, 2 lovely sauces (chilli and chutney) and a large bottle of water. Total bill was £21 and it was cooked to absolute perfection! Service was quick, prompt and servers were very attentive ensuring I had everything I needed. The chops were so soft, tender and flavoursome! It was freshly cooked and piping hot upon arriving and that charcoaled grilled smell set my taste buds off as soon the plate hovered past my nose. Every bite just succulently melted in my mouth. I've had Chappal Kebabs from Mardaan, Peshawar, Kabul and all over Pakistan and UK...so can confidently say this Chappal Kebab is 100% authentic tasting and easily one of the best in Middle England (another is Pakeezah in Bradford and Peshawar Dera in Wembley!) Their naan was soft and tender but a little too crispy in the middle. As I ordered a large naan, it came on the metal naan tree, so by the time Id finished my starters and moved on to the mains, the naan had cooled dwn...but the chappal kebabs were still steaming so it balanced off nicely. Theres lot of options to accomodate cultural requirements such as family rooms and a sit down area where you can experience an authentic 'eating on the floor' area. There were lots of different nationalities eating here which I personally really like as it proves that good food crosses boundaries! Theres parking available outside and I had to park a fair distance away as its a busy road esp. during rush hour traffic but this gave a chance to see this place was easily the busiest on this road during a cold, wet, Thursday night which gave me a bit of confidence that I chose the right place. Will be definitely going again when Im visiting Birmingham and it just might be my new regular go to! Just 5 mins off the Aston Highway so very accesible to the M1 and M6. Highly...
Read morePerfect chapli kebabs, perfect namak mandi chicken karahi, perfect mango lassi, perfect charsi tikka and fresh carrot juice. The big Afghani roti was a little thinner so crispier..if it is a little thicker that would be helpful. Charsi tikka reminded me of our favourite restaurant in Hounslow called Taste of Pakistan. Tgere are many Afghani restaurants but not that good. I am not easily satisfied with the food but I am so delighted that after Taste of Pakistan in Hounslow which is far for us after relocation, Namak Mandi is my new Afghan favourite restaurant. They know how to cook Afghani, Peshawari food - simple. If they say charsi tikka they give you tikka not lamb chops instead which in one of the Afghani restaurants in Birmingham is done.
We came here very 1st time from another city and were really happy with our choice. Normally wr go to just Ziryab Buffet but now we have this great option too.
Interior is not modern but I am more after nice and tasty food not interior when it comes to spending money on food. What is the point of having great interior if you get food that you cannot enjoy. I must say we enjoyed every single bite and sip today after ages.
The only downside is the toilets which my son mentioned were not very clean. Please pay more attention to the toilets. The staff was very humble and professional. I have hardly come across a restaurant where you can dine in and have an option to order fresh fruit juices too. I was so full but couldn't help ordering my favourite carrot juice at the end. I loved the whole experience and we would definitely come back again In Shaa Allah. We are not local but travel an hour to Birmingham regularly just for Ziryab Buffet. We are so glad we tried Namak Mandi today and it is definitely a win win. May Allah SWA put more Barakah in your rizq and Imaan . Keep it up brothers!Aameen sum aameen. We are your regular...
Read moreHow can you be so good on one day and so bad on another? Honestly thought I found a winner with this restaurant but what a mistake that was... The first Karahi we ordered was 1kg standard Karahi with bones and tasted beautifully - there was no oil oozing out of it and the salt was reduced as requested. Wonderful thought I was actually eating an authentic masterpiece. The second time however was terrible, we went for the 1kg boneless chicken Karahi hoping it'd be better without the bones. Turned out it was probably 400 grams of actual chicken and the rest that oily tomato puree you get in a really bad pizza, what made it worse was that the chicken that was there was overcooked and really stale. We also ordered lamb shish kebabs that were rock solid and dry like the Sahara. If it wasn't for the second experience I would have actually recommended this place to family and friends. We didn't eat in but the environment too seemed as stale as the food. Not a real reflection of Afghan / KPK...
