I had been to Bournville Bread Basket in the past but sadly, despite living near to Bournville, the last visit was over a year ago. Today I finally managed to get down to my favourite bakery. This time I asked the lovely person serving me for two cheese and onion pasties. Without a doubt they were the nicest cheese and onion pasties I had had in a long while. The difference in quality between these cheese and onion pasties and your mass produced pasties is incredible. You really taste the difference and fully enjoy what you are eating, making it worth paying every penny and pound. Really, I would marry whomever created these pasties! I always enjoy the food here and today was certainly no exception. The location of the bakery is very accessible, you have plenty of goods to select from, even for a vegetarian like myself and they always have tempting sweet treats. I remember enjoying their bread and butter pudding during a previous visit. The staff serving you are always friendly and efficient, like the young woman serving me today. I most definitely recommend the Bournville Bread Basket and wish I could visit more often. The quality of the food is far nicer than anything inside a regular shop. I know my cheese and onion pasties and these are some of the nicest. When one puts the effort into a recipe it is reflected so clearly in the taste. Today was a prime...
Read moreToday my hubby and I called in to this shop and bought a cherry pie, apple turnover and two custard tarts, all freshly made on the premises (the cakes were demolished this evening and were yummy, the pie we saved for tomorrow).
As it was such a lovely day we decided to stay for scones and tea served out in the sun, although we chose to place ourselves under the bright yellow sun shade! Each table had a pot of fresh flowers presented in decorated tea pots and looked so welcoming.
Our tea and scones were delicious and we spent a little time chatting to Sally the owner whose infectious and cheerful attitude certainly rubbed off onto her staff who were helpful and professional in their work.
Having purchased cakes and pies from Sally on previous occasions I am somewhat puzzled at the review suggesting they came from Greggs and not baked on the premises, this is nonsense and needs to be challenged!
Additionally, Sally bakes the most amazing celebration cakes, a couple of years ago I ordered a Derby County themed cake for my brother’s 80th birthday that was absolutely spectacular!
Therefore I can highly recommend you call in and support the Breadbasket....oh I forgot to mention the selection of breads, and the pies....go and see for yourself, well done Sally and staff you are doing...
Read moreAs a passing customer I was attracted to the side street with the lining of the nice trees some tables and chairs were neatly set up outside and as it was a nice sunny day thought it would make a nice stop for a spot of lunch!
Disappointed doesn't come close. I can totally agree with small business charging a higher price for pastries cakes and sandwiches etc, but that needs to be justified by the quality of the food! Greggs is half the price and twice as good, (I don't really like greggs) I like to support small local businesses but when they buy there jam dounugts from Asda (pack of 6 for about £1) then re-small for £1 each that's right as I was acpexting a fresh baked one. Sandwich was totally dry and was told they don't have no salad cream or dressing! The jam tart was again a supermarket brand with an extra spoon of jam on the top, the pastries were heated up in the MICROWAVE to boiling point were all the fill virtually vanished! If I wanted a microwaved pasty and supermarket jam tarts and donoughts I would of gone to Asda! Expensive, supermarket ready made foods being fobbed off as there own! If your passing by keep passing there's a...
