The Warehouse Cafe in Digbeth, Birmingham is one of my favourite places to go to eat. I had no idea this restaurant existed until the new owners took it over nearly a year ago.
I believe that people are often put off by the mere thought of a ‘vegan/vegetarian’ restaurant as they can tend to think of overpriced mung beans and flapjack type places ...let me assure you that is not the case here.
It makes me happy to take friends and family here, especially as their misconceptions are always blown away with the quality in food and exciting culinary concepts.
Their ‘Fish and Chips’ is a clever culinary delight and one of my favorites, whilst it originated from the previous owners, it has been perfected through quality as well as their portion size being good value for money especially on a budget.
The Warehouse Cafe offer hearty warming soups, interesting and bizarrely delicious burgers, like their peanut butter, banana and chilli jam burger. They also do a range of puddings to cater for all dietary needs, including a sugar free, vegan chocolate style sundae which is rich in flavour and truly scrummy!
Not only does this cafe cater for vegetarians and vegans, they cater for gluten intolerance and people who do not wish to have their food cooked with alcohol, you really cannot knock it!
They are one of Birmingham’s most environmentally friendly cafe’s who recycle waste, have solar panels fitted to the roof for hot water and grow food used within a variety of their meals on their very own allotment.
It’s based on Alison Street, but an easier way of getting to it if you don’t know Digbeth very well is walking through the Bullring. Head to Selfridges, walk along the Selfridges bridge to their car park and get the lift to the ground floor. Walk through the car park until you get to the Moor Street car park Entrance, just as you walk through the arches take a left and you should see it.
The dining room is cosy and functional and has some original art from local artist decorating the walls. They also run occasional workshops and events, oh and Wi-Fi is available!
...with all this it makes me very happy and proud to have a vegan/veggie restaurant in Birmingham, it is seriously...
Read moreThe staff are very rude and accused me of being rude. If I could I would give them minus 100 stars. This is what happened, I came at their "break time" and they told me that they were closed and would open later that day at 5:30. So I came with my children and we were extremely excited. We then found out that they were "fully booked" and they didn't even tell me that they had a booking system. I called them to explain my situation(while I was in their reception) and the lady on the phone told me she couldn't here me, so I raised my voice and she walked down the stairs and went somewhere. She later came back and I realized that she was on the phone with me, so I was calling her and told her I was on phone with her. She ignored me and ran up the stairs and hung up on me. I got out of the building and another lady that worked there, came up to me and she didn't even apologize for THEIR mistake and accused me Of being rude to her colleague. I then told her what had happened earlier and she said that I was loud and that I had "frightened" her colleague. She then said that I was rude, AGAIN, and that she didn't need rude people like me in their...
Read moreThis place is awesome and the staff are super friendly too. I'm vegetarian and health conscious so it is nice to be assured that anything I order will be vegetarian/vegan, nutritious and it will also be super flavoursome!! It is also child friendly too - i didnt want my son to just eat chips when there was so much other great stuff to eat... I was so pleased when the staff were more than happy to make child size portions of the same food and swap the chips with falafels. Half way through the meal, my son was extremely tired because we had walked a long way to come especially to this cafe so my son fell asleep comfortably on the floor for a good hour and a bit... I was slightly embarrassed at first but the staff were caring and allowed me to stay as long as necessary to finish the nap and our meal etc... even allowed us to stay during the time they were shut... Finally, a member of staff left the shopping list on my table by mistake and i had a peep. I have to say i was impressed at the list of fresh seasonal produce they were planning on buying that day. I'm dreaming about my next visit as I write this... might have to...
