Edgbaston Cafe — Restaurant in Birmingham

I had breakfast there: bacon, sausage, fried egg, beans, tinned tomatoes and toast. The bacon was a bit undercooked, could have been vastly improved by a couple of minutes crisping up. The tomatoes had the metalic bitter taste that they often do, a pinch of sugar during cooking would counter that. The sausage, egg and toast were good, apart from the fact that nothing was hot enough, apart from the egg and toast.. Warming the plate would help, but really, the food just needs to be hotter when plated up. I was one of only 2 customers so it's not like they were rushed off their feet. The service was very good, a really pleasant young lady at the counter and waiting the table. I would go there again as it's convenient to me and the prices are reasonable, but if I do, I will mention the luke-warm food and floppy bacon, if these things were fixed it would be a great...

We were staying up the road at the Strathallen Hotel, 5 minutes walk away, and thought we'd go to a proper old school British cafe for Breakfast. This place didn't disappoint. They serve a proper English breakfast, in fact the hash brown was probably the best I've ever had, however everything else was also very well cooked and presented. And not overpriced either ! The service, as you'd expect, was relaxed, informal and very freindly.
