Came here three times and on both occasions was overly disappointed with the food. The beef loaded fries tasted very salty and the mixed grill was one of the worst thing I’ve ever tasted in my life. I don’t understand how such a beautiful place could have such dire food, Emporers if you see this please change your chef and menu ASAP - because I’ve had had better food from the chippies! The service is horrendous from the ‘manager’ who seemed to not know how to manage customer rapport. He was willing to refund one drink but not the second which confused us. The daiquiri that lacked severe taste and was made up of pure ice. He was rude, not understanding the principle of the matter of a very badly made drink and kept repeating policy which baffled us. We asked to change the dire drink and happy to replace and purchase another but he said no even after replacing a previous one. I found it odd and strange how he was talking down to women with a smirk on his face and not caring about our service. We tried to explain the principality of the situation , and he was not willing to listen. It was disgusting service and we had to speak to the female owner who said they can’t refund both drinks just one, even though they were both as bad as each other. We eventually managed to have it refunded after wasting time trying to explain how we are regular customers, with the nonchalant attitude of the manager who did not help the situation at all. He even tried to say he would offer us a soft drink after our debate, which seemed confusing because he could have said this at the start but seemed really helpless. Luckily speaking to the owner helped the situation even though it was not the ideal situation. The waiter servicing us was polite who understood the conversation and let us know the manager told us we had drank a lot of the drink which was a lie as I had merely taken a sip hence why they couldn’t refund it, which was not information passed to us but told it’s an ‘ice’ drink - regardless the refund was eventually processed. But I do think having the lamp to indicate you need assistance is a great concept that works. Sheesha was fine which needed changing once. The mocktails / water with ice looking like rose concept is great I like how they present it. This place has so much great potential if they made the relevant changes.

So this is a bit of a sticky review… As a self proclaimed shisha connoisseur, my standards of lounges are certainly high and Emperors isn’t even close. Let’s start with the food. Overpriced and honestly not great in quality. My friend even found (not one, but two!) hairs embedded in the meat patty of her burger. In fairness, the drinks were good and their desserts weren’t bad at all. The service is mixed, with food being served to our party of 9 in batches. The whole food service took 45 minutes to complete, with some people finishing when others were starting. They even tried serving shisha whilst we were eating - a BIG no across the industry, especially given that we specified our request for shisha after food. Our waiter had an attitude problem too, not handling criticism too well - although the manager, Haleem, was very understanding and apologetic of our service. He even reimbursed us to maintain our satisfaction. The atmosphere wasn’t personally my cup of tea - the clean and modern decor was dampened by the loud music, although this is typical of Emperors, even when they were in city centre, so I knew this prior to visiting. Finally, and maybe most importantly, the shisha itself. Whilst they may look cooler than the traditional Al-Fakher units, they don’t hold up nearly as well. The flavours on all three shishas had a tendency to burn out quickly. In addition, our blueberry mint shisha tasted like straight mint and despite sending it back for correction it was never resolved. Our waiter blamed the mint flavour for being overpowering, but I’ve made plenty of Blue Mist shishas and it simply requires a higher ratio of blueberry. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend Emperors Shisha for food, shisha or service. The only redeeming quality was the manager going above and beyond to save our night. There’s better shisha lounges around Birmingham, but I won’t mention any names 🤫

This place is ridiculous. As soon as we walked in, there was no welcome or effort from the staff – just muttering and pointing for us to “sit anywhere.” The whole vibe felt awkward from the start. We ordered a Cookie Dough, Dream Cake, a Magnum Brownie, and two drinks. The Dream Cake was out of stock, so we swapped it for the Matilda Cake. The brownie tasted dry and bitter, so we sent it back. It was replaced with a cookie dough that was undercooked and disappointing. The Matilda Cake was also extremely dry and bland. When we tried to send it back, we were told we couldn’t because we had “taken a bite.” To make matters worse, they insisted it had to stay on our table while flies hovered around it. When it came time to pay, staff avoided calling the manager until we kept pushing. When he finally appeared, he dismissed everything we said. He claimed most places don’t offer refunds or replacements (completely untrue) and actually told us if we didn’t like the cake, we shouldn’t have taken a bite. How are you supposed to know it’s bad without tasting it? He contradicted himself too – they had no issue replacing my friend’s brownie (after she also took a bite) but refused to take back the cake. His logic didn’t make sense. He even gave the bizarre example of going to Swiss Butter, not liking the steak because he’s “not a steak guy,” and still paying in full. Completely irrelevant, since our issue wasn’t personal preference – it was the poor quality of the food. In the end, we were forced to pay in full for food that was awful and service that was even worse. The only positive was one polite female waitress. Food: awful. Service: atrocious. Cleanliness: questionable. If I could give 0 stars, I would.

Coconut and vanilla. You know who we are. I wish I could give a lower review than 1 star honestly, what an absolutely atrocious experience we had at this lounge. It was my 22nd birthday on the day we went & oh what a mistake that was … From start to finish the service was absolutely appalling. It was heavy rain this day and when we arrived the electricity was completely off - they blamed this on the weather😂😂😂 how is an established lounge having the rain turn off their electricity please? It’s concerning. The shisha we ordered tasted absolutely disgusting & when politely informing the staff that it didn’t taste right, they were coming up with every excuse under the sun. Fast forward, when it came to paying, we respectfully asked for some reimbursement on our bill as the service we received was extremely disappointing , in any business you’d expect the staff/manager to be apologetic however these men could not handle criticism at all, regardless of the fact we were approaching the situation in a polite manor. The manager kept arguing with us saying he couldn’t take any money off the bill and that it was our fault for ordering that flavour and he would “never order it in a million years” which is completely besides the point and plus , he was puffing away on our shisha pipe like no one’s business so clearly u don’t hate that flavour do you😂😂 smoking on that pipe like your life depended on it, actual beg. Also both staff members that served us even admitted once we complained that their coconut flavour tastes weird, but they didn’t think to tell us this before ordering?? We politely explained we had a reservation to get to for my birthday meal and really couldn’t be going back and forth arguing about the bill. He had no respect for this and proceeded to threaten to call the police on us which was just absolutely ridiculous. After going round and round in circles with him he eventually decided to do the right thing and take some money off the bill, as any business should when their customers have had such a foul experience. We thanked him , paid and left respectfully. Once we got outside, before we knew it we were being CHASED by this same manager and some other staff member, shouting “oi come back you haven’t paid” etc etc. we were so confused because the manager had just come to agreement with us and we paid the exact amount he told us to. We explained the situation to this other staff member and then out of no where he starts getting extremely angry and viscious. He was shouting in my friends face when she was trying to calmly explain the situation. Everything started to get very heated and we felt he was becoming extremely violent in the way he was talking to us and doing all these hand signs. My girl said “it’s her birthday , we’ve just come to celebrate and look at how we’re being treated” and he proceeds to say “I don’t give a f* if it’s her birthday, get back inside and pay us more money”. We said how dareee you talk to us like that when we’ve done absolutely nothing wrong and began to walk off as our Uber was waiting for us down the road. As we walked away he started shouting at the toppp of his lungs “you scabby dirty btches” , “broke btches” and so many other disgusting insults. As 2 girls, the way we were confronted by these 2 men in a literal alleyway (the lounge is in a very weird area) was horrible, they were doing everything they could to intimidate us and get more money. No girl should ever have to experience this. If anyone is broke, it is certainly them. Who chases 2 girls out of a lounge in the pouringgg rain over some money that the manager had JUST agreed to take off the bill. The whole situation made absolutely no sense & we got in the Uber in shock. I strongly advise no one to ever go there, there is so many reviews on here about how badly they treat their customers and how vile their food is. There’s many lounges in brum that are actually good, so save yourself the awful experience and take my word for it to never come here. Absolutely vile men, deserve whatever...

COCONUT & VANILLA SHISHA. If I could give this 0 starts I would!!!! The staff’s attitude absolutely STANK. The quality of this shisha was awful. We got the coconut and vanilla al fakher (which is our usual out go to at any other shisha lounge) however at this particular place it tasted disgusting . The flavour burnt out so quickly and was scratchy on our throats 😵‍💫 . Don’t get me wrong I know that after smoking shisha for the while the flavour does eventually burn out ,but in this case the flavour burnt out almost immediately. We called the manager and his colleagues over countless times to fix the issue of the bad tasting burnt shisha, and each time they had a try of our shisha mix, they themselves agreed that it was a very harsh and scratchy taste and reshuffled the coals for us. Alternate flavours were offered for us to try (blueberry, raspberry, strawberry etc) however due to allergies we could not accept these flavours, so had to stick with our coconut and vanilla mix. Just to clarify our choice of the mix was not the issue, the issue was the horrible quality of Shisha that Emporers Lounge buy, which caused it to taste burnt and scratchy very quickly. We barely smoked any shisha due to this recurring issue - most of the time was spent with me and my friend chatting and catching up as we tried to make the best of a bad situation, so we decided to politely call the manager over, explain our situation and politely ask for compensation for our experience. The manager was very reluctant and couldn’t take the fact that we told him the quality of the shisha he’s providing isn’t up to par. After going back and forth for a while he finally agreed to let us pay for the remaining beverages that we had drank and took the shisha off the bill. This interaction itself was already very unprofessional and (embarrassing on their behalf)as he was trying to force my friend and I to pay for something that we didn’t get to smoke or enjoy, even going as far as exclaiming that he was going to call the police on us! - ridiculous I know! After not backing down and telling him that we were more than happy for the police to be called, he took the shisha off the bill, my friend and I payed for everything else that we had and we left immediately to even compensate for the slight inconvenience.Out of nowhere, the manager and another grown man ( which I assume he recruited to try and scare us into coming back into the shop to pay for the shisha), chased us down the car park and into any alleyway where they proceeded to scream , wave his hand around aggressively and shout in the faces of me and my friend exclaming ‘oi, you did not pay! ’As you can imagine my friend and I were shocked to be approached like this and to even hear the man saying we did not pay, after our long conversation with the manager of which we were in agreement of the amount that we payed ( he typed in the amount on the card machine himself, and we tapped our card, so he was fully aware that we most certainly did pay). He even shouted verbal abuse at us saying we were “dirty scabby b*s” which was just so appalling especially as and my friend and I kept it respectful the whole way though any of our encounters with any colleagues and managers. he does not know us from anywhere So this was audacious even! Honestly this experience is one that I have never had before - 2 grown men trying to scare and gang up on 2 girls because they couldn’t handle the truth of their shisha being below the expected quality and take constructive criticism. I know this is such a long message but I had to type this out to make you all aware of the things that these workers do their customers behind closed doors. If I had a video of this experience I would’ve attached it to this review but it all just happened too fast. Good luck to anyone who goes to this lounge in the future , particularly if you still go after reading this review and I hope no one ever experiences what my friend and I...

If I could rate this place 1 star, I would. DO NOT VISIT. The service was disgusting, the female member of staff is a disgrace and should be sacked. She walked past my friend and I 5 times whilst we waited to receive some service, my friend had travelled from London. I'm absolutely embarrassed to have taken her to this place, that put Birmingham to shame. I've visited nearly all the shisha lounges in Birmingham and never in my life have I experienced this disgraceful service before. I asked two male members of staff for tap water, both said they would get it for me, after 10 minutes wait, I advised the lady I am still to receive the water, only to be told they only serve bottled water! No apology or explanation as to why the other two members didn't mention this. Funnily, I later found out one of the men was the "manager", which is hilarious. After I requested to speak to the manager he began blaming the lady for the service we received and then called his "assistant manager" over, he was apologetic but only offered free dessert which we had tried to order for an hour and even that took over 15 minutes to arrive and my friends cake was still a bit frozen, he only gave us 10% off the bill, which was nothing. He also said this was the calmest complaint he recieved, which led us to believe complaints were common. They said they'd only opened 5 weeks ago, they really need to take some customer service courses, as normally with new places the service is spot on. Whilst we walked were walking out the "manager" was walking behind us telling us not to leave negative feedback, he must have thought this was a joke! Genuinely, my friend and I were really upset with the service and the fact we found the lady was personally discriminating us, by walking past so many times and ignoring us, whilst the table lamp light was on yellow to highlight we required assistance, she even took the bill from the table right next to us and the guy was also fed up and had to go up to ask for the bill. She deliberately wouldn't make eye contact with us either. The place wasn't even super busy, we are still in disbelief as we have never witnessed anything like this and their resolution wasn't even the best. I would've expected an apology from the lady who well and truly ruined our night. Also, the nachos dish was a stupid idea, the cheese tasted off and the big pieces of chicken didn't go well, we needed cutlery to eat properly which wasn't provided. My friend says - no point having a Ferrari if your service is worse than a Toyota. They had the opportunity to make this better and they didn't take it. I'm sharing this feedback as I hope no one else experiencing what we did. My friend didn't get home till after 3am due to...
