Monal Dining — Restaurant in Birmingham

Very mixed reviews on here but I must have been lucky as we had a lovely time. The place is small so I can imagine it getting very busy very quickly. There was 11 of us and we did not pre-book but managed to find tables to cater for us all. We were seated upstairs and upon sitting down I noticed a cold draft as there was a door open letting in cold air. Having read some of the comments, I can see why this was an issue. I spoke to management and they simply closed the door so not sure why other people did not do the same. As there were so many of us, you can imagine there were a lot of people to please. Our waiter was very accommodating and tended to our needs. The food did take a while to come out but the place was busy so we were patient. As I knew the mixed grill was going to take some time, I asked that the children’s food be served first as they were hungry but this did not happen until I reminded them. When the burgers did arrive, the buns and patties were very nice. The main show was the mixed grill which was excellent! The meat was well cooked and there was plenty of it so no one was left feeling short changed. I can see how this place is hit and miss depending on what time you go but we were very satisfied. Food was very hot & tasty👌....but but but the waitresses were really bad....one with the tattoo onthe neck ...was soo rude ..we had relatives from abroad which we mentioned to the girl..just to be sure everything be's ok...yes the tawa came on time but the handi...drinks.. tissues..chutney...roti all came one by one after 20-25 mins...which our guests were waiting again & again...I was soo embarrassed because that tattoo girl had a face on....my husband went 4 times to remind them about order and other stuff like plates n tissues....it really not always it's about the food when you go out it's about the customer service and atmosphere....also im disappointed with the female manager....we went to speak about how upset we are and she's kept on talking about she won't charge for the cold naan which came after we left the table..NOT THAT WE WERE ASKING FOR A DISCOUNT!!!...she clearly wasn't fussed at all about what we were saying....don't know where the real boss & managers where??!!! Just to let you guys know we were only 10 ppl!!! So I just don't understand why the management was soo terrible...sort it out or lose more...

Went here to celebrate a birthday, we were a family of 6 and were crammed into a booth that seats 4 comfortably. I asked if we could be seated elsewhere and the waitress told me that upstairs was closed and we would have to make do. We continued reluctantly to look at the menu and ordered the food all whilst wondering where on earth the dishes would be placed.

5 mins after ordering, a family of 5 came through the door and were swiftly seated upstairs, I again spoke to the waitress and asked if we could also be seated upstairs now that it was open. Waitress still refused saying that the booths downstairs must be occupied and there was nothing she could do. After receiving a ridiculous response we decided to go elsewhere. As we were walking out the door a man came over and asked us not to leave and that the upstairs was open for everyone. We were already halfway out and were already put off by the customer service we had received.

We ended up celebrating in a restaurant a few doors down and were very impressed with the customer service. Literally spoilt for choice on Ladypool Rd and Monal Dining has been crossed...
