Overall a disappointing visit and expected better.
To start with we came today as a party of 8 + 2 kids, they only had one high chair (it’s not a big place but I guess they maybe don’t want to accommodate young families, which is fine but disappointing from our perspective).
Where we were seated both times (upstairs and then downstairs) it was not clean. We were unsure if people are meant to be sitting upstairs, it was quite dirty and definitely not regularly cleaned (floor, windows, seats, skirting boards were caked in dust and grime), and the menus we were handed were covered in stains, not exactly a nice start!
We then went downstairs as they only had one high chair but that just doesn’t work for us with two 1 year olds in our party, (fair enough it’s a small place), so they offered us a sofa booth.
However the sofa booth, the seating was covered in more grime and so many stains, I don't know how this is acceptable, our family didn't really want to sit down, but we had ordered as a party of 8 + 2 kids, and had come from Warwick so takeaway wasn’t really an option.
I’m not a clean freak by any standard but the majority of this review consists of poor/basic hygiene standards not being followed.
When the food came, the presentation of the desserts was excellent, but I have to give it 2 stars for the fact that my wife was given mouldy raspberries on her Raspberry Ripple waffle dessert, we only discovered at the end the mouldy ones as the others were covered in sauce, and of course you wouldn’t really think about it until you see it. We were offered a refund for the raspberry dessert which was fine, and we were offered to get a new dessert or anything else we wanted to take away, but I politely declined as I wasn’t really feeling it, but I appreciate the gesture.
Of course accidents happen, but I just feel overall the experience wasn’t a great one, I’m not going to add negative pictures as it’s not a witch hunt, but the standards of overall cleanliness overall should be much higher, especially for a place with such good reviews.
I am disappointed to be writing this review as the food in general was good, I have only attached a pic of the desserts before we ate, to prove we were there lol, and hope this review of the hygiene is taken seriously by the staff and management, hopefully this was just a one off...
Read moreI went here for a special occasion. When ordering the food I informed the staff member about my sons severe nut allergies and she assured me the food we were ordering didn't contain nuts. We waited for a long while and had to enquire why our order was taking so long even though the place wasn't very busy. My 7 yr old nephew fell asleep waiting for his dessert and then finally When our order came, they told us they ran out of his chosen dessert. They didn't come and inform us earlier so that we could order something else. My sons order came and it had Nutella chocolate sauce nut cookie crumbles and peanut pieces on the plate. I was shocked and horrified to see their incompetence and lack of customer health and safety. They were about to serve my son a plate full of his worst enemy, nuts. What was ment to be a special occasion Could have easily turned out to be a fatal one thanks to the staffs carelessness and ignorance. When I told them what they did, all I got was excuses that the staff was new, the owner was away and returned recently so things have not been managed well etc etc. The staff carelessly threw nuts on serving areas, using same gloves to prepare nut dishes and then preparing other people's food without changing them, place was dirty and dusty, worn out furniture, and desserts were small portions and over priced. My daughter ordered a Sundae and it tasted like spice tea with imitation oreo out of date cookies in it. She felt sick and left it. Cookie dough which was near £9 came in a small single egg frying pan with cheap white ice cream. First and last time I will be going here. There is no care or concern for customer safety nor is there any care for allergy sufferers. It is a death trap if you have nut allergies. I take my child's epi pen with me where ever I go. That's how severe his nut...
Read moreWent with my sister to get a Terry's orange cookie dough and a couple Lotus Biscoff milk cakes. I was aware of a few bad reviews but Pink Coconut seems to be well-reviewed overall, so I thought we were going for a relatively safe option.
From the get-go, the person taking our order didn't seem to really know what was going on. Not only that, he lied about having two Lotus Biscoff milk cakes and gave us one Oreo milk cake with Biscoff crumbs and spread poured over the top to hide the fact that it was Oreo. Very well concealed, but quite obvious when one has taste buds and is not blind. A needless bit of treachery here, which gained Pink Coconut nothing but another bad review.
The cookie dough is where the constructive criticism comes; it took quite a while to make, but maybe that's just the way cookie dough is. The cookie dough itself wasn't very good; quite dry and just nothing to write home about. It didn't feel like I was biting down on sugar, which was a plus. The presentation wasn't particularly fantastic, and the chocolate sauce and timid half a strawberry did nothing to really help the cookie dough out. Overall, relatively flavourless and not worth buying - imagine eating slightly sweetened, barely orangey dough. That's exactly what it was. Maybe the Ferrero Rocher cookie dough (a classic flavour) is the one I should have gone for, but there's no guarantee that would have been any better.
Overall, I wouldn't go to Pink Coconut again. For such a well-reviewed dessert spot, all I was met with was deceit and...
