PizzaExpress — Restaurant in Birmingham

I called up Pizza Express in Sutton Coldfield to check if there any vouchers left for the free pizza on National Pizza Day…? I spoke to Duncan who stated they were a few left…. I asked if there was parking locally and Duncan helped with directions to the nearest available parking.

Me, my wife and our three children got to Pizza Express and we were greeted by the man himself, Duncan. I spoke with Duncan and stated I just called regarding the pizza vouchers…. Duncan said “Yes, all wearing stripes..?” We we’re all wearing the “Signature Black and White Stripes”.

We got seated at our table and Duncan said I’ll be back in a moment to take your orders. Duncan came back and asked “would you like any drinks..?” We got a pitcher of water and some soft drinks. We gave our orders and then like in a matter of 15 minutes we all had our pizzas served to us.

The pizza’s were awesome and our kids throughly enjoyed them. The children had 2 or 3 slices remaining which were packed for us to take home. Obviously me and my wife finished our pizza’s. The pizza’s were out of this world and “WE” will be going back to the Sutton Coldfield branch as we received service like we were royals.

The service was quick and friendly. Duncan even came over whilst we were eating and asked “if everyone and everything was ok..?” Everything was just lovely and I think I should say that “Duncan” is an asset to the business as he strives to provide world class service to all of the customers Duncan...

Probably 1 of the worst experiences I've had dining put in a long time. Our waiter was friendly but thats about it. Had to wait 45 minutes for our starters, after waiting half hour the waiter comes to tell us that the starter my son ordered was no longer available and this is after the GENERAL MANAGER brought that same starter to our table with a few wrong starters that ended up being for a different table. (At no point did the manager come over to apologise) as my sons starter was no longer available, by that time 4 tables that sat down a lot later than us had already been served. I asked to bring all the food out together so he didn't have to watch us eat while he waited for his mains. That didn't happen either. After finally receiving our mains (I asked for the calzone not to have any chillies as it was for a child.) It was stuffed full of chillies! Again I had to go up to the GENERAL MANAGER (who BTW still hasn't bothered to come to our table) a simple check back is the bare minimum when you are running a restaurant where there have already been 2 complaints on the same table. In the end the bill was comped but I'll be honest, I was chocked with the lack of interest/ general management from the GENERAL MANAGER. I suggest training on general hospitality is...

Ordered for delivery, pizza came with no base sauce. I called up to check if I had ordered the wrong option on the website. Simply asking if the original crust refered to the bread or the sauce. Gentleman who answered the phone didn't answer the question instead got a tone with me demanded me order number and other irrelevant info as he insisted the base sauce was on the pizza as he checked it, I tried to explain again and he just became argumentative... Terrible service or training or both! I didn't want to point fingers, just check I hadn't made an input error before I requested a refund with deliveroo. Instead had someone trying to gaslight me about what was Infront of me! Im a big fan of pizza express and would of let the mistake go if the gentleman on the phone wasn't so dismissive argumentative and to be frank RUDE! Shall never visit or order from the Sutton Coldfield restaurant drive to another pizza express or just go...
