Slug & Lettuce - Sutton Coldfield — Restaurant in Birmingham

We've been eating here lunchtimes for about 5 or 6 times and I think I've only had my first choice off the menu twice, they're always short of food choices and always have the excuse "we're waiting for a delivery", the service has been patchy up until 2 days ago when we tried our luck again, what a joke. I had to attract a waiters attention to place our food order after we'd been sitting for 10 minutes unattended, there were very few diners, sure enough I couldn't have my first choice off the menu or second choice so I settled on third choice the smothered chicken burger, my Wife was ok because luckily that was her first choice, the waiter walked off to the order station screen as I began to place our order and in a raised voice I almost had to shout our order across to him it was obviously too much to take our order at our table and then go to the order station screen to input our order, I had to go up the bar to chase up our drinks, the barman didn't check the table orders arriving at his station, I asked for no bacon on the chicken burger and I got bacon, the food was great, credit where credit's due, well done chef, people all around us had various problems with their service and drinks, after we'd finished our meals incredibly our waiter brought us two more smothered chicken burger main meals and I said "not at this table mate we've just finished our meals" "I thought you had" he said, the food was for another table, looks like everyone had to have the smothered chicken burger it would seem, we weren't asked if we wanted desserts, I had to again attract the waiter's attention to ask for our bill after waiting for another 10 mins or so, he wanted to bring the card machine over at the same time as bringing us our bill and I said that I wanted to see the bill first. This visit was a comedy show but not a funny one, the one star that I give for this visit is for the chef only as the food was great and yes you've guessed it we're not setting foot in this comedy...

Awful!

We came as a group of 4 roughly 7 pm for food. We opted for table service. The waiter was really friendly but the rest of our experience was redicilous. We ordered POP and waited 30 minutes for them to bring it over. They wasn't even that busy, it was a Wednesday evening. Allot of food items we wanted they had ran out off! Our starter took over an hour to come out. Out of the 4 starters 2 was bread and Olives so how does that take an hour ? We waited a total of over 2 hours of our mains, yet a couple came in ordered burger and chips and had their meals and eaten it within half an hour! At this point we complained. We just wanted our food. We was starving and fed up. The manager brought our food out and some of mine was then missing. We mentioned we was not happy how long we have had to wait and the excuses kept flowing. They was new was mentioned so many times. Then their printer in the kitchen had broken. Orders was mixed up. When we asked how the couple on the table behind us had got their food so quickly she couldn't answer us. And then we mentioned how many food items they had ran out off! Redicilous. A girl who must of been high on drugs then decided to sit down in the food area and dance on the chair, and then grind some man. She then went on to wrap her legs around his neck! Not something we wanted to see while trying to enjoy our food. We asked for the bill and the manager apologised and gave a discount. I understand they are new but it's the same company as YATES so technically nothing new but the name! Oh and may I add that allot of people who was in the same boat as us was getting up and...

I visited here with my family of 6 (4 adults and 2 kids) on a Sunday afternoon. We'd reserved the table back in October as my sis in law had a meal deal voucher. I was visiting from Thailand for Christmas, so I was keen to try some local grub. The restaurant was decked out in Christmas lights, which gave it a warm atmosphere that was the only real positive.

Upon arrival, we were told that a third of the mains from the 2 meal deal menu were sold out. Additionally, after ordering the vegan burger, I was told they hadn't any left. My brother also ordered a burger and got the same response. He ordered the fish n chips and was told they hadn't any left :( Then miraculously, he was told they did have some. I ordered the vegan pasta and vegan nachos. The pasta left little to be desired, with only slices of pepper scattered amongst the penne pasta.

Whilst all of our meals arrived, my 6 yr old nephew was left waiting. After querying his meal order with the waitress, we were told they hadn't placed the order. It would take another 10 minutes.

Following this, desserts were bought, my Dad, Sis in Law and nephew really enjoyed the churros and waffles. Unfortunately, after returning from the toilet, I learnt the server had spilled caramel sauce on my winter coat.

I understand Christmas is a busy time of the year and staff are over run, tired as the year comes to a close but having worked in the F&B industry myself, even I know to count the food orders on the system and to take care of the customers. A disappointing experience overall, we won't...
