After reading rave reports of the woodman reopening I decided to make my may down to help and support with some custom of food and drink After standing waiting at a empty bar and no sign of anybody serving a face appeared shortly and the young lady very polite and advised me on the various flavour of gin available and the mixture options I was advised on current availability on foo etc and decided onmash, peas and gravy Ohh doesn't in sound nice I'm saying to myself

After a very short wait I hear a buzzer sound and awaiting my meal However disappointing is a word I would use A totally burned pie and you or anyone could see that 2 soups like used for ice-cream of stone cold mash A handful of peas stone cold And wafer thin gravey And yes you guessed stone cold Mm, I spoke to this guy who said he worked there And no acknowledgement just more like give it to me etc I fully explained that I wanted a fresh order and not a ding job This guy offered no apology or have a drink on us Just nothing After 10 minutes round 2 arrived A little better but nothing to say ohh I come back again for the food It was clear as day my food was rehashed and presented again Even the watered grayey could not sell itself

So if that be the options i would stear clear of food options If they had of apologised you may take in good faith However they did not But take your money

Came here one evening on a night out and didn't want to leave again, a well dressed man by the name of Theo was the life and soul of the pub. He stopped at nothing to give me and my group a welcoming and fun experience, and handled the entire pub superbly.

One of my friends wasn't sure what drink he wanted, Theo confidently listed every drink on the menu and gave a further description of how certain options tasted compared to others when asked. During the evening we noticed a couple sat down together in the corner, starting to have a row. After a few minutes it looked like the girlfriend was about to storm out, however Theo calmed the situation and saved their relationship - they were happily holding hands for the rest of the evening. We saw Theo cure a man of paralysis. Worryingly before we left there was a local cat that had gotten itself stuck behind the fridge, Theo lifted the fridge up with one hand and safely rescued the cat with the other. Theo shook everyone's hand before leaving, letting us know we were welcome any time, then he did a really cool backflip.

Five stars will...

As someone who works in hospitality myself, I was genuinely shocked by how aggressively the manager treated me today over a simple misunderstanding. I asked if they had anything cold to drink after being told they don’t serve iced coffee—even though it’s listed on their menu. She suddenly lost her temper and started raising her voice, which escalated into a completely unacceptable confrontation.

Just to be clear: customers can’t possibly know how many fridges you have, or which drinks are cold unless you tell them. I simply asked a basic question—“You got nothing cold?”—and was met with rudeness, attitude. I left without my order, and the manager kept shouting as I walked out.

This behaviour is disgraceful and entirely unprofessional. I’ve worked in pubs, I know things can get stressful, but taking it out on a customer is never okay. After today, I wouldn’t recommend this...

A much needed addition to the Millennium point area. Prior to The Woodman being open, there wasn't really any (nice) pubs nearby, you'd have to head to Digbeth or back into the central city area. Where this pub excels is it's ales. Great selection on tap which changes regularly. I'm told the food is pretty decent, though I'm yet to try. I've had many a pint in their beer "garden", the pub is surrounded by Eastside City Park so you can stand outside, in the sun and not have cars going by a people rushing past with things to do. It's a nice chilled atmosphere. Especially when the fountains are on. There is seating too which is great. It works as a nice pitstop on your way to Digbeth or a watering hole pre/post-event at Millennium Point or BCU's Parkside campus or on a sunny day when you head to the park and fancy a refreshing beer.

Nice old style pub, historic in the midst of new developments, cheap for the area. Sells real ales, had 4 on when I visited from 4 different breweries. Does food which is reasonably priced. Beer was in good condition when I visited (late Tuesday afternoon) They also do box cider, mainly Lilley's, 3 on tap when I visited. On kegbthere is freedom lager, Carlsberg, Krombasher pils, Hogans cider, Kingstone press wild berry, Purity session ipa, Erdinger and Guinness. All in all a recommended visit if you are in Birmingham especially if you like real ales or ciders

This an amazing traditional boozer, which is a little piece of history with much more modern surroundings, including what will be the HS2 Curzon St Station. My main aim of the visit was to try the draught Bass at the reopening in September 2024. Bass was never sold at the pub before owing to it being an Ansell’s pub. The Bass was first class and there was a great & friendly atmosphere throughout.
