This is my 3rd time filling up the contact form. Yorks almost never gets back to its customers despite reaching them here or on Facebook and Instagram. The contact number given also does not work.
On 31 October , I’ve sent both an Instagram DM and a message on this form to complain about the rudeness of staff and poor customer service. No reply whatsoever.
Today, I decided to give Yorks another try - and again met with poor customer service. The speciality session was written on the menu under the iced section so I thought they were necessarily iced drink. I explained to the waiter and service staff, who’s name is Harry that I never expected it to be hot and he explained the speciality is separate to the iced drinks session. But I told him it was confusing and I made an honest mistake, good customer service would at least have had the waiter offer out of goodwill or understanding towards the customer that they’ve made an honest mistake and at least offer another drink of cheaper or equal value. But no apologies or anything and no attempts to correct this. Dismal service and poor customer focus . Deserves a complaint - no matter how good the food it - customers ought to be treated better.
Food used to be good now it’s mid. Customer service non existent and previously rude. No way to feedback or contact then retroactively. Gave them another chance today after my poor experience last time , and that hasn’t changed so definitely won’t be back.
Worse £16 ever...
Read moreEDIT: I posted the below review 11 months ago (end of 2017). Since then, York’s has really gone downhill. Went here with my friend today and it really was not as good as it used to be. Coffee was bitter, cake was dry, and my food portion was tiny for the amount of money I paid (see pic - that cost £7.50!). Really disappointed, and will be complaining to them directly. I’d no longer recommend York’s, as there are plenty of other good independent coffee places in the city centre to choose from. Also, something else that we noticed was that the floor was filthy - we put our bags down and they were covered in dust when we picked them up!
Love this place! Coffee is great quality, staff are friendly, the atmosphere is super chill and the decor is quirky. I always go for late night coffee here with my friends as they close later than many chain shops in the centre. It’s a really comfy place to hang out and chat. I’ve only tried a few items from their food menu, but what I’ve had has been great (especially the cakes!). They also serve alcohol. I like that they have a stack of board games downstairs, so you can play those with your friends if you like! Probably one of my fave coffee shops...
Read moreToo greasy for our liking.
We ordered two dishes, the house breakfast and the two chicken stuff, drawn by numerous positive online reviews to this restaurant. However, upon arrival, we were informed that the menu had changed, leaving us to navigate a new menu and new prices.
The house breakfast (15£) featured toast so thinly sliced and deep-fried it resembled croutons more than bread. Unlike most other places, the sausage was overly soft, lacking in texture. The mushrooms and bacon were unremarkable, though the poached egg was delightful. It was disappointing to find only one enjoyable element in the dish.
The 'two chicken' (14£) was overwhelmingly greasy. The thick toast was drenched in oil, making each bite akin to swallowing oil, and the chicken's thick batter encased dry meat, with the dipping sauce doing little to cut through the grease. The only saving grace was the refreshing pickles.
On the bright side, the drinks met our expectations, with both the chai latte and flat white being satisfactory. The location is convenient and the decor pleasing. However, for those seeking a tasty brunch or mindful of their diet, I wouldn't...
