We visited Nando’s at Foss Park Leicester on a sunny Sunday afternoon. As expected, the retail park was already quite busy with lots of people around enjoying the good weather. When we arrived at the restaurant, we were greeted and asked to leave our name for a table. We were told the wait would be around 20 minutes, which seemed fair considering how busy everything was.
However, the frustrating part was that we were seated in the waiting area right near the entrance, and the table we were eventually given had actually been in front of us the entire time. It remained dirty and uncleared for about 20 minutes, and no one came to clean it until just before we were seated. That made the wait feel a bit pointless, as the table was there all along and just needed a quick clean.
Another disappointment was that they had run out of butterfly chicken. We were a group of five and two people in our party specifically came for that dish. It was frustrating to be told it was unavailable, especially given it is one of Nando’s most popular menu items. There was no clear signage or warning before ordering either, which would have helped manage expectations.
On the plus side, once we were finally seated, we used the app to order, which was really convenient and meant we did not have to queue again. The food that was available arrived relatively quickly and was served hot and fresh, just as we expected from Nando’s. Everything else was atrocious. Stood waiting by the door for 15-20 minutes, no staff even seemed willing to look in our direction. When I finally got their attention we were seated right away- surely checking on customers by the door and advising them of wait times or seating them regularly is one of the basics.
Once we were finally seated, we ordered on the app. Other people who came in after us got their food before us and no sign of even any starters after 25 minutes. We went to the bar and were told the order had only been on the screen for 8 minutes! But I had a timestamped email confirmation on my phone and we had indeed waited for close to half an hour before chasing anything. We had to ask for our own cups after 10 minutes and I am quite sure we would not have had these brought over if we didn't. I would advise ordering at the bar maybe as perhaps there was some holdup or glitch which could have been avoided by going up. There were no clean knives to be found either.
We got free dessert as an apology which was nice but please sort out the service. It's such an easy thing...
Read moreAbsolutely disgusting! I would not lay food in this establishment. 9/10 they do not have 90% of their product on their menu. So you are limited to maybe one main and 3 sides to choose from. The service is lethargic, they literally hire any kids off the street with absolutely 0 training. They probably spend more time gossiping than actually dealing with customers. Then they have the cheek to give you attitude during the service and don’t get me started with the management. They clearly need training and so does the rest of the team. The food comes out cold and burnt. It’s just an absolute disgrace. They need to be shut down immediately!!
When you send a complaint to their customer service team, they like to play blaming games. Maybe I should have recorded everything next time from food to the appalling service.
You’d think the customer service team would not be biased but clearly that’s not the case and they make you feel welcome.
DO NOT SET FOOD IN THIS ESTABLISHMENT! There are so many more amazing restaurants right opposite...
