Hogarths — Restaurant in Bolton

Im going to say it, this place feels like a posh chav pub. Its not really my kind of place so this might be abit of a biased review.

Went on a Friday for a friends birthday, it was busy but there was places to sit. We ended up outside in the smoking area which is not too bad, they have sheltered booths with sports tv on and electric heaters.

There is a wide choice of drinks and a huge cocktail/gin menu so if you like that sort of thing your in. I dont so ended up on beer which was ok. Partner was on guiness which she enjoyed.

They had a live singer on a balcony above everyone, you could barely see him so they screened on a huge tv, and i mean huge, it was a whole wall. The problem was they were running the sound through their normal speakers which had blown. Every time the guy got loud or hit a high note the speakers just rattled like crazy so it sounded terrible.

Generally the place was not that tidy but it was a Friday night, i would not go back out of choice. However if your a posh chav that likes gin (and liked it before it was cool sure) then your quids in. Theres even a kebab shop nearby for when your...

Normally really like going in here but last night (Saturday) I was really disappointed with the service on the bar and left. I was stood at the bar for 10 mins and didn't get served, while the people immediately in front of the staff got served when they just walked in the gaps left when people had been served. It's just lazy barkeeping and not fair to customers who have waited. I even asked the young lad politely if he would mind serving me next please, and he sort of smiled and then after he had finished serving another customer he served the man right in front of him at the till. If a customer says that to you, it's their polite way of saying you've ignored them! It wasn't so busy he or the girl alongside him (I was in between both 'stations') couldn't have looked up, this is a lost art with young staff that the management should teach them. Anyway after being ignored again we decided to go somewhere...

Pleasant afternoon drink ruined by the ignorant girl behind the bar,she never heard me order my drink so when i asked her were was my drink, she rolled her eyes at me likeca 10 yr old child.. and quite arrogantly stated that i never ordered one !!Hello...yes love i always come out and stand with my husband at the bar with no drink ! Clueless instead of an apology that she never heard me.....i then went over to the manager...and he just started saying i shouldn'nt of got irate...and that i was in his home !!WHAT THE HELL ..as that got to do with his bad mannered staff ( well one girl) ...bad management ..shame really go in at least once a week..was in last monday afternoon with my son and the young lad on the bar was lovely.Anyway i left ..upset but went on to barristers;dragon fly and then oscars...all with lovely staff and smiles on...
