Clean today and friendly courteous professional staff. Now the 4 stars here is set against the price. For what you pay, it's cooked properly, served properly at a decent temperature, and portions are generous when it comes to things like beans and mushrooms. We had breakfast no 4 and veggie breakfast no 1 - they were out of stock on one ingredient but happy to swap in another item. For roughly £6 a head including tea or (machine) coffee, what we had was decent. You are welcomed upon entering, it is table service, and the place is clean with open view into the kitchen. Not the glitziest or most glamorous cafe, but unlike 'celeberity' ones nearby, what they do and aspire to, they do well. My wife was particularly impressed with the toast which was done to her exact liking. No burnt, not still floppy and white, just right and buttered in time for it to melt in. So delighted was she with this little attention to detail, she insisted I took a pic and put it up. It's very rare to find toast done correctly (even at home when the kids mess with the settings resulting in clouds of thick black smoke). So set your expectations by what you are paying and you will be happy. The most important aspects - hygiene, properly cooked, good service, are all ticked off. Went for Sunday fry up....NOT GOOD. Cafe was empty...should have walked out then as an empty cafe tells you something. Ordered a breakfast for me and 2 poached eggs on toast for the wife. My breakfast came(£6.25 for a fatty mess and rationed portion size). We waited 25 mins after for the wife's poached eggs and mushrooms on toast. It finally arrived with no mushrooms and eggs weren't cooked properly. They have filled up the "heinz" tomato ketchup bottles with cheap nasty vinegar catering ketchup so be careful if you prefer the proper stuff. Wont be going back. And then charged £14 for s* service...

Ordered liver and bacon with onions and mash and asked for gravy on it which got a purplexing look but delivered none-the-less, and my partner ordered no 3 breakfast with extra black pudding instead of mushrooms. Food overall was well prepared and excellent. The service was really good and delivered with a smile, they seemed to enjoy being in the kitchen and it showed in the food we ate! Will definitely be back! Visited on a Saturday and as a person with social anxiety and issues with noise and overcrowding it was a far better experience than the Elephant and Castle that we left...
